Fun Fact: 5 years ago, the AL East finished in exactly the opposite order that the AL East is in today. Have the beasts finally fallen? Keep the Yanks and Socks in the basement. Would be kind of nice seeing neither in the playoffs the first year the extra WC was implemented.

Well, the Sox seem to quite content to be in the AL East basement, but they won't stay there. They're heading for the MLB basement.

Well now, the AL East has turned into a horse race. At this point, any team could finish in 1st. Going to be a real interesting summer.

What I find amazing is compare what the Rays spend to what the Sox and Yankess spend. I think their return is pretty amazing or NY and Boston's return just is flat out terrible.

It's way too early. It's 162 game season. Right now, the two "worst" teams in the division have the best run differential. The more interesting thing is that all of the teams in the AL East are above .500.

It's pretty amazing that the Sox are above .500 with so many of their players on the DL.

I'm a dodgers fan who lived amongst red sox nation and i give bobby v credit. SOOOOO many former allstars on the DL. If healthy their lineup would be unmatched.

    CF-Ellsbury
    2B-pedroia
    LF-Crawford
    DH-Ortiz
    RF-Gonzalez
    1B-Youkalis
    3B-MiddleBrook
    C-Saltylamacchia
    SS-Aviles

find me an out if their healthy.

After their game against Detroit tonight, the Sox are up against Toronto and Baltimore, so they can definitely make some movement if they hold together.

3 years from now when their forced to trade price, longoria because of their price tag they'll tank. All their best players were high draft picks, when you win you don't get those great high ceiling players.

    yanks produced-cano
    rays-longoria,price,sheilds,helickson,moore, all high draft picks
    sox-ellsbury-youk,bard,pedroia,lesters,bucholz,dubront(none were high draft pix)

I was thinking the same thing, although I've been too busy watching basketball to pay too much attention to baseball lately.

    Good luck BALTIMORE ORIOLES!

Today marks day 1 of a 20-game stretch in which 17 of those games are against AL playoff contenders! This will be a test of your playoff mettle.

Was wondering the same thing.. Since my Twins have finally hit rock bottom, I look forward to see what damage the Central and the West can inflict on the East in the playoffs.

<-----I changed my main profile pic just for this thread!!

Thank you, msuNtx, for mentioning the Rays. After the success we have had over the past few years and accomplishing this on a bargain basement budget, there are still some baseball "fans" that ignore us. We're just a "fluke" to them.

Eventually, the Yankees will fall apart just like Boston has this season. Baltimore and Toronto aren't easy teams to play and will put a scare into every other team, but when the dust settles--the Rays will be there.

Look at the statistics (at least the pitching ones). We have the best overall pitching in the American League and if it weren't for Washington (the Nationals? Really??), we would be tops in all of baseball. If only we could hit.....When the team leader in hitting (Ben Zobrist) is in the .260's, help is needed and if...only if...we had the money to grab a power hitting first baseman, catcher or outfielder....

Look for us to make some noise again in September. See you in the Playoffs!

I loved how the Orioles were the final nail in the Red Sox coffin last season and kept them from going to the playoffs.

    But....

    ANYBODY BUT THE YANKEES!!
