Madonna's "MDNA" earns the distinction of the largest second-week percentage sales drop for a No. 1-debuting album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. The album slides from No. 1 to No. 8 on the Billboard 200 with a 86.7% sales decline (falling from 359,000 to 48,000)

The percentage dip surpasses the record set by Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," when it fell 84.27% in its second week on the chart dated June 18, 2011.

Glad to see Madge can still break some records! icon_wink.gif

I heard something about this on the radio. They were saying that the way the album was released (either on a weekend, or online first, or something bizarre) accounted for this numbers. Either way, still a great album IMO.

The album is decent, and only decent. The fact that it's tumbling down the charts doesn't really come as a surprise to me.

Her prime was very obviously the late 80's, and again in the late 90's. I'd really like to see her top Like a Prayer or Ray of Light. Hell, even something that's better than Music would be awesome at this point.

I believe it was that everyone who bought a tour ticket received a copy of a CD, and those sales were counted towards the total. So there are a a lot of people who bought the album "twice".

Hearing this is music to my ears!

I hate Madonna and hope she never produces music again. icon_smile.gif

I think there are some great things on the record. Turn Up the Radio is amazing, I'd put it up there as one of her better songs.

She's such a pretentious bitch -- is she French this year? -- that she deserves to come down to earth for a bit.

and to think she signed on MIA and Nicki Minaj....and Schrillex to try and make her and her album more relevant...

    FAIL, Madonna. FAIL.

Oh yeah, that was it. I thought it was the other way around - the albums given out with the ticket weren't counted. But I could be wrong.

Free advertising? These are the actions of a lover scorned... did a Madonna lover break your heart? Please, don't tell me... you were born this way?icon_confused.gif

I didn't realize that she named her album after a similar spelling of a drug until it was mentioned on a podcast. I have never heard of the drug MDMA before. I of course have heard of ecstacy

Wow. I just thought this strange. You seem very up on the news and current events and you never knew ecstasy is MDMA? No offense. I'm just surprised.

I have never tried any drugs before. I have never had any desire to try any of them. I don't drink alcohol either. There are a lot of mainstream things that I have no idea about....like professional sports...what is used in particular alcoholic drinks, what illegal drug does what, etc. I have not been to a bar in at least 6 years....and many many years prior to that time. I only went then becuase that is what a friend wanted to do for his b-day. There are also a lot of mainstream movies, famous people and singers that I really don't know anything about either.

She did not use the exact spelling.... They are guessing it had to do with all the nicknames they use to talk about her so that people who do not know what the nickname means will think they are talking about something/someone else.

I have not listened to her entire album yet but I have heard that she should have done an album that was more mature...and not pretend to be a teenager.

I just hope she can learn from this like she did in the 80's-90's and bounce back with a single or score for a movie soundtrack to give her a new direction... though, this may be the beginning of her slowing down?

yeah, there was also that time she did some awkward opening for Avicii, asking the crowd if "Anyone had seen molly?"

    Gosh, she is so hip.
