From my rudimentary understanding of German and significant help over at airliners.net, OS will be resuming/starting services to EWR, ORD, and LAX with new B777's starting in 2013. These services are expected to be run in cooperation with United Airlines (UA) and All Nippon Airways (NH). OS currently serves JFK, IAD, and YYZ. Unfortunately, OS has no plans to resume MIA.

southbeach1500 saidWow, I didn't know that they had served EWR in the past.

Also, I guess EWR makes sense as it is * Alliance (though still waiting for ANA and some of the other *A airlines that currently only serve JFK to move over - or expand - service to EWR).

I did some research and it turns out that OS never served EWR; but they did serve ORD and LAX previously for a number of years on and off.

And more Star Alliance members would be very welcome at EWR in terms of on-board services offered. NH is well above UA in terms of on-board service.

Austrian Airlines had a code share with Delta in the mid to late 90s and both airlines ran one daily flight, each, between Vienna and Atlanta. I would get to see a friend who worked as a flight attendant for Austrian Airlines.

    This is great news.

If you get to travel in the front of the plane, Austrian has one of the most elaborate meal presentations of any airline (it rivals First Class offerings even though Austrian only has Business Class).

Vienna's airport is kind of a dump, though.

First off: I like the idea of you guys coming to Vienna icon_biggrin.gif

About the article: you're right. It says that they are going to focus on flying in the States more, that they are going to improve their partnership with United Airlines and ANA and that their destinations are going to be: Newark (at least 5 times a week), L.A. And Chicago.

Oh and congrats on picking the best newspaper we have around here icon_wink.gif

There really is no better way to get to VIE than on OS in my opinion. Then again, VIE via OS is the only way from the States. And in regards to the poster who said that OS has some of the most elaborate presentations in Business Class, I've heard that on quite a few occasions. Check out this trip report airliners.net:

And I looked up Die Presses on Wikipedia and it sounds like a very interesting newspaper.

*Fun Fact: OS used to fly to KUL, MEL, and SYD up until 2007.

Love flying OS! They still have a chef on board their long haul flights. Best business class food!
