Am I just pale?

When I look at my pic, I think I'm so pale I look less muscular then when I focus in. I felt good taking the pic, cuz it was proof of improvement, but now I see it in that little window, it's like an old man's face on the Michelin man...

    1) Change your status from average to something else. Average means fat. You're obviously muscular.

    2) Pale is hot. Tanned is for people who aren't educated about premature aging and skin cancer. You can get vitamin D from supplementation (one of the few supplements I take). In the older days, tans were looked down upon as something the working class got...

    3) You have hair on your head. Usually, people take that sort of cutoff picture if they are insecure about their baldness/balding process (mine is the former...it's stopped and this is as bad as it will get according to my family genetics).
Solution: Take a new picture with hair. Be happy with your lustrous snow white skin. It's healthy!

I COMPLETELY disagree! The lighter your skin is, the more contrast you'll have between the shadows and highlights on your skin, which in turn makes you look MORE muscular. (I'm an artist, can you tell?) Besides, tanning is for morons and makes you look douchey. You look great just the way you are.

As a fellow paleface -- my skin is sensitive, so I can't take much sun and I'm not crazy about having dye sprayed all over me -- I can tell you that it makes you stand out. I purposefully use high contrast light and shadow in my pics to highlight that. I just own being a whiter shade of pale.

There's a whole economic connotation to tanning -- proving you have X amount of disposable income and time to bronze yourself, in too many cases, silly -- that I find myself resisting that.

I feel the same way. My abs show better when I have a little color/tan. Sadly, I'm about as pale and pasty as they come. If I do manage to get tan, it lasts about a week. Oh well, such is life.

Pale is probably better than the weird patterned tans that I usually end up with.

Here in California I'm outside a fair amount of time so I get some sun. I look and feel better this way and everyone I see looks better with at least a little sun. Without some sun I would look like some mild mannered dweeb who lives down underground in his granny's basement.

We are usually our own worst critics.

You look great! Believe me, most everyone here tells the absolute truth, so let all the positive comments sink in.

    Congrats on the progress!

As a fellow member of the pale club - its great to hear such positive and sensible comment regarding tanning which I find the gay community to still be obsessed with, despite all the known damage it does.

Yeah, I'm pale as hell too. Wasn't there a Janet Jackson song "Pale people of the world unite!"

Pale is hot. No tan = no skin cancer, slower aging. Wish I'd have known it when I was younger.

What's wrong with pale? Some of the sexiest-hottest men are pale.

There's nothing wrong with pale. It can be very hot. Pale > fake or excessive tan.

Pale is sexy, tanning (especially the fake stuff) is tacky.

I should make the disclaimer, I've tanned before going to Cancun, but still wound up cooking like a lobster in the Sun...

Also, I've had to spray tan like three layers when I went as Snooki for Halloween. Yes, I went as Snooki for Halloween.

You're in BC. You don't get to tan naturally out there. I love the sound of the rain on an umbrella. Or a tent. While we're having sex in a sleeping bag. ok I got on a tangent

Yes, you are pale, but there are worse things you could be. Yes, you look less muscular. Why do you think bodybuilders are all tanned, whether sprayed on, creams or sun induced? Should any of this stop you from improving your physique? I would hope not.

Also, get outside and get a little sun, just be sensible about it (use sun screen, don't stay out for hours, do not get burned). Not everyone comes down with skin cancer.
