Shins: another design flaw or what?

Now that my summer tan is getting pretty dark (in places) all the scars on my shins are showing up pretty obviously.

It appears that: 1) Every object in the universe is designed to damage human shins, and 2) Wounds on shins take forever to heal and always leave big scars.

    Or is it just me?

I heard a comedian once say that shins were designed to find furniture in the dark. haha. I used to play soccer back in the day and for one match I forgot my shin guards. That never happened twice.

Gouged my left shin on a rogue stake while biking through the fields
when I was 11 and the scar was with me for DECADES, shining like
a brand-new dime each summer once I had some colour going.

Aach, its STILL there! Thanks, MG, for reminding me
of a 'flaw' I had come to forget altogether.

When I was a baby I pulled a *very* shoddy (and folded-up) playpen over on myself. The hinge was very sharp and cut my shin pretty bad.

Well now that I've grown to six feet, I have about a foot-long scar up my shin. Thankfully, since I was so young then, you can barely even see it.. unless you scrunch the skin on my leg together where it is. :)
