When there is something he can do, he won't!

"The senior administration officials declined to say whether the president would now push for gay marriage to be part of the Democratic Party's platform at the convention. They also said they were not changing positions on an Executive Order that would ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation against federal contractors. The president has said he would not sign that order."

I'm so tired of the whining about what Obama hasn't done yet.

I'm so tired of him not doing it.

But pardon us for not being eternally patient. This isn't something that we will awarded in the future. All of this is something we are being cheated of today.

Cheated of today and since we were declared human in 1974 by the American Shrink Associations.

38 years of being officially cheated. A lifetime of living as a 2nd class citizen.

    This is bullshit.

It's like a mugger wanting praise cuz he stopped mugging you.

It's good he stopped mugging you. But he shouldn't have been mugging you in the first place.

It's like a guy not giving you something when you asked for it, but later. But he should have been giving it to you all along.

Obama hasn't been mugging us. He didn't sign DOMA. It was and is his duty to enforce it.

And not stopping discrimination against contractors, although I completely disagree with his cop-out there, still isn't "mugging" us. Not making things better != making things worse or assaulting us.

If you are standing next to a burning building and people who can not escape by themselves are being injured while you are at safe distance, there is probably no moral obligation for you to chance sacrificing yourself by storming into the building unprotected to pull out the victims.

But if you are standing next to a burning building and people who can not escape by themselves are being injured while you stand at safe distance and all you have to do is throw a switch to turn on the fire sprinklers, in fact, the switch is right at your hand, there's even instructions in easy to read lettering "FLIP SWITCH IN CASE OF FIRE", I'm pretty sure you have a moral obligation to flip that fucking switch and stop those people from being further burned.

I think people still want so very hard to be critical of the president, a president who at least has issues on the table and isn't actively trying to take them away. Least you forget that he's trying to ellected again, least you forget that theres a poltical process to this and he's considering what will occur if he doesn't get ellected to the white house, his numbers in poles and other connected issues that we're not instantly thinking of.

I'm tried of this "Obama is not doing what we want now" ..when the instant alternative is Obama doing nothing. Bush, Clinton,Bush sr., Regan and any president before then did nothing for you. Your alternative now is Mitt Romney.. so regardless of time and how you would prefer this happen and how you view his timing, in reality you have no idea what other variables go into decision process while he is trying to navigate through the %48 of people in this country who think your right to marry should be illegal..which means he's instantly alienating that vote.. He's got to move strategically and with caution. I would to.

I wish some gays would stop looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I often question people who are extra tough on the president, as if he created DOMA and hasn't just lets states do whatever the hell their citizens wanted through voting, because obviously he wants to not exactly FORCE the idea because it's quite controversial and rather slide it in. Whatever happened in NC can and will be fixed.

There's a few more legs to this story.

I think there's a percentage of gay men who are sooo resistant and almost indignant towards him because of his race. Thats my honest belief. He's still your president. And whatever has and will happen has never been done to this degree ever. Pessimism and being overly critical of his decision with this really will only help incubate more animosity where really there should be any, and push him out of office..where Mitt Romney will undo everything.

In a way, i hope Romney wins so i can here the Obama-is-evil people shut the fuck up and move onto more credible 'enemy'.

This just might be a case of.. you don't know what you've got til it's gone. Maybe the worse needs to happen for others to reflect on just how amazing this is.

So you agree he's not actually mugging us. Cool.

I agree he has a moral obligation to do it, and he ought to and should, as I said from the beginning. One can pretend that an executive order making a change to the hiring practices of the entire federal government to is as easy as "flipping a switch in easy to read lettering" but it doesn't make it true, but aside from that, I'm glad the "HE'S BEEN INJURING US" lie has been dispensed with.

The person who purposely refuses to toss a pail of water is just as guilty as the person who purposely tossed the match.

I'de loved to joined in on the rejoicing but imo his betrayed you at least twice this year - when he signed NDDA after vowing to veto it, and when he signed the March 16 executive order which essentially puts US under martial law. I'll belive his words when he backs them up with action.

I agree with you on disapproving of those two actions, but my questions for you are these:
Why would national security errors cause you not to "rejoice" over a President embracing, for the first time in history, certain civil rights for a group?
What actions can the President take regarding marriage? It's not like he can push for marriage legislation, since it's not a federal issue. He is already taking what action he can on DOMA, for example.
And last - would Rommey (or McCain) be better on any of these?

I know, right? Just because the "no action" thing is a lie doesn't mean we can't pretend it spoils the party!

    Mugger? NO.

More like a RAPIST attacking our tender, virginal WHITE FLESH.

Or at the very least, he's like one of those uppity ones who want to drink from our WHITES ONLY WATER FOUNTAIN.

Yeah, that's what it feels like to have our first Black President who up til now wouldn't rescue us. He even had the AUDACITY to coax us into rescuing ourselves.

Maybe even suggesting that we grab a bucket to help put out the fire in our own house. HOW DARE HE!

When I hire a Black Man to do a job, I don't have any intention of helping him do that job.

And when I hire a Black President and he faces an ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY intent upon his destruction----and every program that I care about........Well Tough Sh^t! I plan to sit back and heckle along with the Republicans.

Keep It Up, Fellow Dissatisfied Progressives, Keep It Up!
