Best statement I've read on the subject since Dolly Parton's "I'm all for gay marriage. Hell, why shouldn't gays be miserable like everybody else?"

I'm really pleased my life is at a point were such things as people not supporting gay marriage is of no issue to my life. I love and am loved if they do or don't so nothing changes for me either way. Albeit I 100% support Civil Unions I would never partake myself, as we don't need it to feel forfilled, or to love each other.

Now I could get up in arms that our Welsh born left wing Prime Minister does not support me a Tru Blu Auzzie in haveing the same equal right as she does in my own country. But their are more pressing issues at hand of what she has done to Oz.

Yes I have been in some wonderful debates here at RJ over marriage equity, as I am able to see both sides; but at the end of the day it's of no issue to me, when I turn my light off at night, a peace and security I truly wish others shared; thus I see the funny side to this thread too.

One would think that because one understands both sides of such a hot topic effecting ones own peers; One would act with a moral and ethical stance to change it? Right, Pattison?icon_neutral.gif

Oh one has spent 45 years as an out homosexual, 20+ of them in a long term relationship that is still going strong. I also have lived in the Aussie bush as an out poofter, and out in the straight community I live as one too! Oh yer I do get to see both sides of the fence, and well know, we do not need for some piece of paper to love or be loved or to show our love to others and be accepted in the broader community, it's our own state of mind that holds us back. Get on with living your lives guys, love and be loved.

I also understand many here will not relate to this as they have never walked a mile in my shoes, survived what I have, nor been in a long term relationship of 20+ years, to know the feeling of being loved as I do, and not needing some piece of paper to do so, and be so.

    Nuff said.
