I had seen this petition (and signed immediately), then kind of moved along. So as I'm twittering a little I see a few celebrity tweets still talking about this, if you haven't I'd appreciate you signing the petition and so would Fran Drescher. icon_smile.gif *annoying nasal laugh* If you look into the Girl Scouts of America, there's a LOT of leniency for these children whereas the Boy Scouts...not so much. If I had a child, niece/nephew or friend with a child who identified as gay/lesbian/transgender I would want him/her to feel special and accepted in every way. My nephews already are, do and they ALWAYS will. I applaud Jennifer for standing up to them and I applaud the Girl Scouts for accepting everyone who believes to be a girl and we need to end the hate in the Boy Scouts. Sign them, thanks! Ciao! icon_smile.gif

Beavers no matter which you choose...

There was a Penn & Teller episode about how homophobic Boy Scouts is. It's not a huge deal because kids aren't usually aware they're gay at that age, although they might be influenced early by the hate.

But I'm for stomping out homophobia in every place it lurks.

I knew at a very young age, a lot of people are aware..some others aren't. It's generally based on your upraising/childhood, being socially active plays a large role too. I was raised by a free thinking, open minded parent..so my brain wandered. A lot of kids are "trained" aka brainwashed to be a certain way, I just can't fathom being raised like that nor raising someone to be like that. I guess you have to be a dirty bigot to get it? icon_lol.gif

The only reason they don't want openly gay boys in boy scouts is because they're more likely to tattle on the scout leaders when they molest them.

Well I'm glad you were smart enough and strong enough to break that mold and be a good human being, then again your sexual orientation might have helped broaden your views lol. Either way, welcome to being a good person. icon_lol.gif

Trollileo saidWhile the girlscouts does accept transgender children, the BSA (at least) accepts all people into the more elite variations of boy scouts such as venture, explorer, and sea scouts.

However, the disposition of boy scouts toward homosexuality is unacceptable and if I were to be open about being gay in a boy scout troop I can legally have my Eagle award stripped from me.

Who cares, that's the reason I left when I was 11! I refused to be a part of something that didn't accept me for who I was, I'm no idiot nor am I a hypocrite.
