So I was running around on myspace and saw a comment on my friends profile and it had a youtube video of a song by this guy named Ivri Lider. The name of the song is "Jesse". I found it kind of funny since it totally fits something going on in my life but it got me thinking after reading this dude's bio. How man gay male artist have actually come out and be honest about their lifestyle and embraced it in their music? I cant think of many or any for that matter. Maybe cause he's israli and its accepted more in other parts of the world than here but who knows. Just curious if you guys know of others.

Mika is post-gay. He says it's irrelevant who he sleeps with. It's the whole Keanu not coming out but not not coming out thing.

Rufus Wainwright is openly gay and writes songs about loving men

Darren Hayes of Savage Garden is gay. Some of his lyrics are rather direct about that as well.

The entire band called PANSY DIVISION has been around for at least 10 years. Their lyrics are explicit boardering on raunch with a
garage band /punk sound, but they supposedly opened for GREEN DAY sometimes.

A few years back a Brit version of N SYNC called BOYZONE featured an openly gay singer (who even identified his boyfriend) and put a gay twist on Andrew Lloyd Weber's "No Matter What" they call us.

Much farther back there was a phenomenon called Rod McKuen--His lyrics were never explicit, but they were always romantically generic. For a while he made a fortune from both straights and gays.

Of the current singer song writers, Wainright gets my vote. His music is original, interesting and has a rather complex chord structure. He had a brief appearance as an entertainer in that di Caprio movie about Howard Hughes and did a Judy Garland tribute with caused a lot of chatter that I never followed. He did some early interviews that reeked of attitude which nearly turned me off, but his music speaks better than that.

Jason Walker is a new (and I'm pretty sure gay) dance-floor-boy-diva I've really come to enjoy and Jay Brannan, the super cute one in Short Bus, is another great new addition to my nano.

Cliff Richard has never come out as Gay but lives with his male manager and hasn't dated a woman in at least 20 years.

So it looks like he might be.

How sad is it that I only knew of Darren Hayes (Savage Garden)
And that was only through a lady friend of mine back in Minnesota. *Sigh*
Maybe all this meas is that listening to music isnt one of my passions.

However, I do sing, and write. Mybe I'll write a song and record myself, and post it for you all. Then again maybe I'llnever get around to it or chicken out. Hmmm sounds like a new thread is born!
