I'm the Best Man for my straight best friend's wedding this weekend. I'm anxious as all hell because I really don't know what to say. Everyone advises the cliché, let it come from the heart. I would really appreciate some more creative advice.

It's generally considered good form for the best man to be visibly drunk... makes the groom look good by comparison.

muchmorethanmuscle saidWell, shit, he's your friend. We can't answer that for you.

I'm not asking exactly what to say, just ideas to inspire me.

Before toast... uncouth. I am called slick guy style for a reason. After toast... it could not be any other way icon_lol.gif

Just make believe that there's just you and the Bride and Groom in the room
Tell a story...about something you and the couple had done in the past...or how you met the groom (please don't if you had sex with him)icon_eek.gif
But don't follow any of the cliche'd wedding toasts
    they're all so boring

I had to do the same at my best friend's wedding. And as suggested above, I told a story about how I know the groom (with a little ripping on him in there) and how I know the two of them as a couple. I think it's always a safe bet to comment on something they exemplify about a good relationship and how they've inspired you to seek that in your own relationships.

    Hope it helps.

just wear a shirt slashed to the waist, then you can come out with any old crap as no one will be listening.

Now I get what you mean by 'toast.' Duh. Guess I was hungry.

A few funny incidents would be interesting to include, but end with so much heartfelt sincerity that you borderline cry. It will get everybody's tear ducts primed.

Short and sweet. Remember, it's their day, not yours.
