What's your favorite type of cardio?

    Hey Guys,

As I embark on my journey of the Strength Program here, I just got to thinking about the cardio routines there (and how much I despise doing cardio workouts).

Anyway... as I was going through the program I started wondering what types of cardio I should end up doing. Running on a treadmill is not my favorite thing in the world so if I can avoid it, that would be ideal.

I've started to pick up spinning which I actually really like. I think it's a pretty sweet workout as long as the class and the instructor is right.

But, I wanted to get your guys' input and see what type of cardio you guys like to do and if there's anything in particular you guys recommend?

    Let me know...

    Cheers!

I really like doing complexes as a form of interval training. Big fun! Hard as hell tho. icon_cool.gif

Kayaking but rarely get to do it these days so cycling and 30 floors of stairs take its place.

cycling... ride 20k into town making it a 40k round trip... or 72k to the next town. It saves on gas and your knees. With a racing style bike you can really move doing an average of 30kph.... or 18mph. It's also a good way to keep your body fat down. I usually end up at around 8.5%bf after just a few months. Gives you that ripped look.

I do spinning classses, mixed in with stairmaster, eliptical. Spinning is a great workout and with a good instructor doesn't seem like one.

My thought exactly!! Interval sprints will burn fat faster than anything I know of.

Riding my bike. There's a steep quarter mile hill in my neighborhood that I ride up and down for about 4 sets. It's the only time I actually feel a "pump" in my lower body.

I love spinning. I also love the eliptical. You get a really good butt workout on that thing.

    Cycling!

The best thing about not having a car is I have to bicycle everywhere. Good exercise, good for the environment, and GREAT for my wallet.

    Elliptical because it's low impact.

I am trying to teach myself to run now, though.

I'd have to say wrestling is an awesome way to do cardio. you get strength and resistance training to almost every muscle in your body as well as intense cardio while you wrestle.

I tend to like cardio outside like hiking, rollerblading, biking, sex and swimming. Inside for cardio my favorite is rebounding.

Running outdoors, out among the country lanes, is my favourite cardio workout. Running on machines of some kind is too boring for me. I enjoy the panorama of the passing world to keep me interested!

Strictly speaking, the most complete and rigorous cardio workouts are things like fast swimming, nordic skiing, etc.

If you can't do the treadmill, try the elliptical machines. They get my heart rate going, particularly interval training. The type of elliptical machine makes a big difference, too. We just got newer and much better ones at my gym.

That said, I'm not a cardio fan. icon_wink.gif

Going for a long, shirtless run along the Hudson until I glisten with sweat.
