Don't ignore reality, my friend. A quick history lesson will teach you why black churches exist in the first place.

But that's beside the point. Watch the video. icon_smile.gif

This is really cool. There are actually a lot more too: Al Sharpton, Boyce Watkins, Marc Lamont Hill (hot) and of course President Obama. I'm noticing a lot of black leaders becoming more vocal and being supportive (of rights more than anything else). LOL @ "sexual rednecks".

    Impressive is a weak word..

    Lets use phenomenal!

I loved this video. even though he is targetting the "black Chruch" this video should target all Churches. This pastor of mine was accused fo being interracial (beinga hawaiian who married an Oklahoma white women) they were very festive. But as soon he said something against gays, a month later he was kicked out of my church.

I really am glad, you posted this video. It made my day! truely.

He's pretty remarkable. Very few speakers have his flow. And the substance? Phenomenal--as you said.

It helps to have people like him speaking to Christians, especially black Christians, about LGBT rights. Dyson has the experience, the currency, and the knowledge to present arguments exposing the error behind opposition to LGBT equality--without making an unnecessary mess. Dan Savage ought to take notes.

I saw a documentary last night gauging the human ability to inflict 'evil' on another human. It was fascinating and found out that 'authority' is what most humans use to inflict 'evil' upon other humans. But when in a group of TWO or more inflicting the 'evil' per the 'authority', and one stands up and defies the authority, 100 percent of the other participants defy the authority and STOP the infliction of 'evil' on the human test subject. Remorse is STRONG!

Obama just 'defied' the "authority" (church sanctioned bigotry).. He's a VERY smart operator.. watch and see how many members of the black church will now follow his lead.. the numbers will begin to astound us!

Now if only a "Republican presidential contender" would defy that 'authority' within the GOP, this would be a non issue forever and finally maybe once in our lifetimes we as gay people would be treated equally.

MLK 'defied' the 'authority', that's how he got the support he needed during his time.

The documentary experiment proved time and time again, that this behavior is absolute and definitive.

    Yes.

But I think it's important to distinguish between supporting the right to marry regardless of one's sexual orientation and believing that Bible approves of same-sex marriage. From Dyson I get that he supports the right to marry. He believes that one's sexual orientation should not prevent one from exercising that right. I'm not sure, however, Dyson believes that the Bible approves of same-sex marriage. But even he doesn't believe that, he doesn't think it matters.

Dyson understands the constitution and the law AND how the bible is used to 'mold laws' affecting any and all not of the church.. he's a very smart guy!

I'm sure Dyson understands it all. Anyone who tries to debate him on this issue will certainly get a Spirit-filled ass-whoopin' LOL. I'm just saying I'm not sure whether his position is that the Bible, which Christians accept as the Word of God, approves of practicing homosexuality in any sense.

It's good that He is interpreting Jesus's view of love ... unconditionally... (no exceptions...) Where as most Christianity (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestants, and Fundamental...) are institutions of dogmas and man-made laws... I left religion long ago and it was the best decision of my life.

,.. And is isn't it strange that a lot of young heteros nowadays are considering not to get married, but to live with 'legal' wows and commitments (just short of marriage licenses)... many still cling to them. Marriage is not for everyone... that's why the rate of divorce is over 55 percent in the hetero world. I also witnessed sad gay divorces too. That said, people should give rights to marriage if they want it... I am glad that Obama stood up... yeah!!!

Many churches are still segregated. I fought against it for as long as I could, but i gave up. Blacks and whites do have legitimate culture differences; so it's only logical for the two cultures to worship in their own way.
