George Allen Disagrees With Virginia Republicans: Sexual Orientation Should Not Be A Criteria For Judges

"Former Senator George Allen (R), who is now running to reclaim his seat, said he disagreed with a recent decision by the state’s House of Delegates to reject the confirmation of a judicial nominee because he is gay. "

Anti-Gay Virginia Lawmaker Explains His Decision To Block Gay Judge: ‘Sodomy Is Not A Civil Right’

" in the words of Del. Bob Marshall (R-VA), Thorne-Begland’s gay “lifestyle is exactly contrary to” his obligation to uphold the state constitution. On CNN this morning, Marshall doubled-down on this view, explaining that he blocked Thorne-Begland because the judicial candidate had the audacity to serve his country while gay"

Bob Marshall is a hateful bigot.
One of the "totally-straight" Republicans who somehow can't stop thinking about gay sex. If you read his biography, it's one gay panic after another: scared of getting blood transfusions from gay people, trying to get gays kicked out of the Virginia state guard, angry that a bank chose to fly a rainbow flag to celebrate Pride day... no anti-gay position is too petty for him to exploit in order to spread hatred.

Regarding his rants about the evils of "sodomy," I would love for just one journalist to have to balls to say, "hey, Bob, ever gotten a blow job? THAT'S SODOMY TOO, dumb shit.

Law experts challenge Virginia lawmaker Bob Marshall on 'sodomy is not a civil right' comment
"William Eskridge, a Yale Law School professor and author of “Dishonorable Passions,” a book about the history of sodomy laws in America, rejected the contention that sodomy isn’t a civil right. He pointed to the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark 2003 Lawrence vs. Texas decision, which struck down the criminal sodomy law in Texas – and by extension, other states – as unconstitutional.
“The Supreme Court ruled in Lawrence that anal or oral sex, commonly known as sodomy, when performed in private by consenting adults, is constitutionally protected -- which makes it a civil right,” Eskridge said."
