Was the message that these protesters wanted to send in disrupting ag research, that they wanted the poor to starve? These arrests are a useful reminder to how bankrupt and irrelevant the movement has become.

University of California police raided a four-week Occupy encampment at a college-owned farm used for agriculture research early Monday, arresting nine people after protesters ignored yet another weekend deadline to leave.

About 100 officers clad in riot gear arrived shortly after 6 a.m. at the camp known as Occupy the Farm, but there was no violence, university spokesman Dan Mogulof said.

Officers moved in after issuing a dispersal order to about 10 protesters sleeping at the Gill Tract in Albany, a 10-acre plot used primarily by UC Berkeley’s College of Natural Resources.

Two protesters, both women, were arrested on trespassing charges while the other occupiers left voluntarily. Seven protesters were also arrested for unlawful assembly.

Monday’s raid allows UC faculty and students to begin planting their research crops.

“We simply could not wait any longer,” Mogulof said, adding, “If our faculty and students couldn’t get in this week to begin planting research crops, we would’ve lost a full year of work.”

More than you do - and I look for more sustainable solutions as opposed to your belief that we should force them into servitude / dependency. icon_rolleyes.gif

icon_lol.gif No. You don't. In fact, you're the worst kind of hypocrite who benefits from that which you would deny others.

But you're welcome to try your Luntzian word play on someone more likely to fall for your bullshit.

Lol - the fact you'd think you are even qualified to call "bullshit" on what I've said is perhaps more a testament to your delusions than anything of substance. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm generally consistent in my views and actions but I can see how your attempts to attack those like myself are seen as absolutely necessary in order to maintain your exulted view of yourself and your life's work which frankly at least where it pertains to the policies you advocate for the poor - have not only been a waste but have hurt the very people you have advocated for.

    Congratulations. icon_rolleyes.gif

Rid - I've never encountered someone less bright or savvy than you, or more motivated by a distant and hypocritical ideology than you.

You know so little about American politics that you could fit it on a teaspoon and still put sugar in your coffee.

And you know even less about the policies I advocate for the poor, except for the "liberal" straw man you've created in your mind. icon_lol.gif

Oh if only your words had any value icon_rolleyes.gif - but just know that while you supposedly "advocate for the poor" and hurt their interests there are those of us who actually seek to improve the conditions of the poor sustainably looking to give hand ups not force dependency with strings attached.

Again, just your usual bleating with no reference to a policy I do or have supported as "forcing dependency" on anyone.

Yet, your well-documented supported for "right to work" (for nothing) laws, your hatred of unions and absolute fealty to any corporation or corporate executive no matter how egregious or damaging their behavior has been to our country (ours not yours) has put more people on the welfare rolls than any "liberal" policy in history.

And yet again - you're wrong. Where have I ever sworn " fealty to any corporation or corporate executive no matter how egregious or damaging their behavior has been to our country (ours not yours)"? Yes, I think I'll wait for this evidence. icon_rolleyes.gif

Your poor grasp of markets is pretty sad - but again indicative of what you do and the policies you advocate for.

When haven't you? You're carrying water for the perceived smear of every private equity firm on the planet, regardless of their business outcomes. The only businesses or executives you ever take issue with are those that support Obama, and then from the other side of your mouth, claim he hates business. You would probably make an argument for how Bernie Madoff was misunderstood.

I understand markets very well. I just don't believe in your illusory "free markets", which have never existed - at least on this planet - and the markets as they exist today are more often responsible for human suffering than for ameliorating it. Which is not to say that capitalist innovation doesn't have a place but governing is something completely separate.
