You can get this from eating undercooked pork.

P.S.: I'm sooooooooo glad that I decided to be a vegetarian.

Right... because fresh produce never gets contaminated with pathogens that can make you sick or even kill you. icon_rolleyes.gif

At least something is living in their brain, because many people certainly don't have living brains.

That is why pork is always sever fully cooked.
However, pork in the US is much safer than pork in other parts of the world, that is why the study was done in Latin America.

There's some stuff but not a lot that gets past the blood brain barrier. It sounds like these bacon worms are boring their way through. Is there a brain eating zombie parasite on broccoli we should worry about?

Is it really that hard to ensure that you don't eat undercooked pork? No, it isn't icon_rolleyes.gif

    Being vegan won't prevent this.
It will prevent you from getting regular tapeworms, but the disease described (according to the article you posted) comes from direct ingestion of tapeworm eggs *shed by humans*.

The article suggests this happening by eating food contaminated by an infected human (e.g. someone who does eat pork touching your food while infected (and presumably not having perfect hygiene).

Performing anilingus on someone with tapeworms would be another route for entry and potential start for this disease. So, while not specifically mentioned, gays would actually be at a heightened risk for this... icon_sad.gif

I'll just have to feed Ariodante more bacon and offer my ass for him to eat.

Most problems associated with fruits and veggies can be eradicated with antibiotic treatment.

If I had to choose, I'd rather have listeria from cantaloupes than some parasite that can migrate to my brain.
Then don't date a drag queen.

    *runs out of thread*

<-- Has dated two drag queens. icon_lol.gif

Ok, so I have a friend that does MRI's in Southern California and I just had to ask her:

"Yes i have scanned many patients with cystercircosis ....usually Hispanic persons who eat pork . It is thought that they eat the pork undercooked and the worms survive and travel through pathways to the brain. It looks like round cherrios on the mri scan. I scanned one Indian patient who was treated and followed ...he had a good result but they do eat holes in the brain. "

Non-anal vegetarian refixed for you.even though this is now about the grossest thread I've ever had the displeasure of participating on. Ick Ick Ick. That picture should have been my first clue.

    http://sexuality.about.com/od/sexualhealthqanda/f/anal_sex_common.htm
How Common Is Heterosexual Anal Sex?
"Over time, statistics on anal sex indicate a substantial increase in people reporting anal sex, from a low of 9% in the Kinsey data (collected from 1938 to 1963) to a high of 34% of men in a national survey in 2002."

Never forget, there are more of them than there are of us.

Okay, well, that was completely disgusting. You all have a nice day. I'm going to go wash now.
