    Hello,

I am a physiotherapy student at the University of Kentucky and I am doing a ten week internship at John Flynn Private Hospital from June 1 - August 15. I am preparing to stay in a hostel but thought I'd exhaust my efforts on here before making the reservation. Any suggestions for accommodations and/or offers would be GREATLY appreciated. I'll owe you a beer once I arrive!

    Thanks!

    Good luck with your internship!

You might want to mention the city you will be in. Australia is kind of a big place.

You're gonna stay in a hostel for 3 months? You, sir, are courageous!

You'll be on the Gold Coast. Good weather this time of year! The guys up there are hot, but are what we like to call "bogans".

If you make it to Melbourne then you can surf on my couch (it folds out - but BYO pillow) icon_smile.gif

    www.hostelworld.com

Read the reviews and make a decision based on that.

You might find someone at the hospital maybe able to offer something.

    Good luck!

Be careful driving; they drive on the wrong side of the street there.

More so crossing the street the amount of Americans that get hit by cars is outrageous. remember to look both ways!

Edit remember we have a dry sense of humour and to not take us literally, especially those GC bogans.

What a load of malarkey, everyone knows there aren't any cars in Australia, everyone rides kangaroos.

hostels in OZ is way expensive, you willing to pay up to $25/ 30 a night?

Get yourself a studio apartment or share, much cheaper.

Australia is the only country when I travel I do NOT stay in hostels.

Check with the hospital - they often have staff hostels which are heaps cheaper. I worked out in Mt Isa, Nth West Queensland and the staff hostel there was included in the contract - but they also had students in a seperate building up the road - worth asking!

Main thing is have fun! a great place for a student placement!

    Tugun is okay.
More 'regular' benevolent style bogans rather than orange self-obsessed bogans. I had a friend who worked in the hospital out there for prac - you'll still be able to visit Brisbane.

Agree with what some others have said - hostel is probably going to be too expensive. Maybe stay there for a few nights and then look online to see if you can get into a temp share house situation.

    Try this website - http://www.gumtree.com.au

I moved to Australia 3 years ago.. I found a house to settle down after a single day!!! I an real queenslander house! (maybe thanks to my french accent ;-))... Brisbane (Queensland, and Gold coast are so much fun... and if you look around you will def find something to stay.

Im trying myself to move back to queensland, cause is such a fucking nice place to live. I bet you wont want to come back after your internship.

Good luck, and dont worry, Aussies are so friendly !

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidFind a sexy Aussie sugar daddy to make you his captive sex slave at night. This way you get room and board for free.

Look at it this way, think of all the hot and colorful stories you'll be able to tell all your friends when you return home to the slow rolling hills of Kentucky. Tawdry sexual escapades by night, studious dedicated intern by day. I'm already envious of you just thinking about it.

Also, be sure to take lots of pics. Or none of it happened, mkay?

and everyone knows that the Gold Coast is FULL of rich old queens, kinda like Florida

Definitely consider a house share situation over a hostel!

Also check out www.airbnb.com - entire homes or rooms for rent at much more reasonable prices.

    Have fun!
