A sad day when another country is more socially advanced than the US. Thank you for making us a backward, repressive nation, Republicans.

Right... because during the first two years of the Obama administration, when the Democrat caucus had super-majorities in both the House and the Senate, they just couldn't get gay marriage passed on the Federal level - they couldn't even repeal DOMA.

So really, if there's blame, the Democrats perhaps have the biggest share of shame, as they could have done something about gay marriage and they didn't.

And before 2006 when Republicans controlled all three branches of government, what did they do for gay rights? What is the Republican position on gay rights and marriage equality? What is Mitt Romney's position on same-sex marriage? What is the Republican position on DOMA? Does the Republican Party support gays in the military? And, by the way, since you slam Democrats and/or liberals in everything you post, why shouldn't Art mention Republicans in everything he posts? Moreover, why do you care: you aren't a Republican, remember?

Awaiting your responses to these questions, since you are so outraged by the Democratic position on gay rights.

Oh, and this topic is about France, not the USA. Could you please for once not try to mention the U.S. Republicans in everything you post???

Generally speaking, U.S. Republicans are more socially conservative than Democrats, with Democrats being more moderate.

And how could Democrats have done anything without the 60 votes? Not all Democrats support same-sex marriage, but most of them in Congress do, but not all. You certainly can't get West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin or Montana Senator Jon Tester to help pass it.

Harry Reid said the votes weren't there.

Not according to southbeach. According to southbeach, Democrats do not support gays at all and have done absolutely nothing for gay people.

According to southbeach, it is the Republican party which has promoted the diginity and equality of gays. Republicans and Mitt Scissorhands want gay marriage, want gays to serve in the military, oppose DOMA, and love gay people.

P.S. Southbeach does not know his ass from a hole in the ground.

Once agin you over look your many, many years of homophobia, and the abuse you ignored, rather than speak up and out. Oh and people don'y just turn gay as you claim either, or they could be turned straight too. What did Bill Clinton do to liberate homosexuals of the USA, Oh he created DADT.

Before DADT, gays were not allowed to serve in the military at all.

Maybe you should stick to commenting on politics in the Outback. You clearly don't know anything about American politics.

I'd love to live overseas to experience gay liberated living; before it comes to the US. icon_neutral.gif

Didn't Clinton sign DOMA into law as well?

Yes, he deserves criticism for that. There is a representative argument to be made since most Americans did not support marriage equality at the time, but I personally believe he should have vetoed it.

I'm glad he and Obama both oppose DOMA now, unlike the Republican Party which wants to write gay hatred into the Constitution.

Oh, I see.... the Democrats - when they had super-majorities in their caucuses in the House and Senate, and controlled the Presidency from 2009-2010 - when they could have pushed through a repeal of DOMA and granted gay marriage - didn't because of what the Republicans did or didn't do prior to 2006. Logical. icon_rolleyes.gif

Translation: "I cannot answer the question because the Republican Party, which hates gay people, has done exactly nothing for gay people, unlike the Democratic Party which has embraced gay rights incrementally and now supports marriage equality from the President down. So, having been exposed as a hypocritcal idiot for slamming the Democrats for gay rights while ignoring the gay hatred in the Republican party, I'm just going to continue whining about those three years, because I have intellectual OCD and cannot think of anything else to contribute."

Not logical. But then again, you're a right-winger, so logic is probably not your strong suit.
