The Resurrection of the Jeremiah Wright Connection Fizzles

Brian Baker, president of the Ending Spending Action Fund, has released the following statement on behalf of Joe Ricketts, the conservative billionaire behind the proposal to attack President Obama’s connections to Rev. Jeremiah Wright,:

Joe Ricketts is a registered independent, a fiscal conservative, and an outspoken critic of the Obama Administration, but he is neither the author nor the funder of the so-called “Ricketts Plan” to defeat Mr. Obama that The New York Times wrote about this morning. Not only was this plan merely a proposal – one of several submitted to the Ending Spending Action Fund by third-party vendors – but it reflects an approach to politics that Mr. Ricketts rejects and it was never a plan to be accepted but only a suggestion for a direction to take. Mr. Ricketts intends to work hard to help elect a President this fall who shares his commitment to economic responsibility, but his efforts are and will continue to be focused entirely on questions of fiscal policy, not attacks that seek to divide us socially or culturally.

And thus the so-called "Ricketts plan" has been all but killed by its own creator.

The book and the extensive interview with Rev Wright may motivate additional investigations and ads.

It's funny because you are such a fucking hypocrite, you go after Wright, who has done and said nothing wrong, but say nothing about Ted Nugent.

What specifically have I said critical of Rev Wright, anything in this thread? Or in any other thread anything more than quoting him?

Because you are passing presenting them out of context, and the context is very important. The context is of a black man born and raised in America without the benefit of white privilege and the rose tinted glasses it comes with, the context of a man who has live in America in a reality that seems to be so far from your own that you deny it exist.

That and the simple fact that Ted Nugent continues to get a free pass from people like you.

I have not read the book, but given there was a 3 hour interview with Rev Wright that has been, from what I understand, presented in the book and being shown on Hannity, than I doubt the out of context point has any substance. You could say quoting a sound bite from someone could be taking them out of context, but a 3 hour interview? Try to spin that one.

And about "people like me"? I could reciprocate and say "people like you", but I won't because the people normally thought of as "people like you" are not like you at all. They are not whiners trying to cast blame for all their failures. So I wouldn't insult the "people like you" to even suggest they are like you. They are better.

That was poor wording on my part, I was referring to ignorant conservatives who have no idea what it's like to live on the other side of the fence.
