I know there have been countless threads on various aspect of the vegan diet, from protein powders to recipes. But, can anyone recommend a reliable nutrition reference for making sure your vegan diet is well balanced in general?

I'm currently following ideas from Brendan Brazier's _Thrive_ diet, but I'm wondering where professional nutritionists go for info.

Thrive Diet it great. Recipes from his newest book are fantastic.

The China Study is a good read for research showing the benefits of a plant based diet.

I don't like having to worry about if I'm getting everything I need in the day, so I do supplement with Vega. Makes it so much easier.

The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder is a good read, even though its marketed to middle aged women who want thicker hair and nice skin. It's principles are easy to understand and her recipes are hardcore clean and taste great.

    Check this out:
    http://www.amazon.com/Vegan-Life-Everything-Healthy-Plant-Based/dp/0738214930

Vegan For Life is written by two R.Ds and covers everything from macro to micro nutrient needs for vegans. In addition it has sections with more specific recommendations for age, sports nutrition, pregnancy (I am guessing you can skip that one) as well as with heart disease and diabetes. In addition it is pretty well sourced so you can look into the actual research they used.

vegemike: I've liked Thrive for the past four months or so. I can confirm that it helps with recovery, and the nutrient-rich, easily-digestible concept makes sense. I'm not really looking to change anything, just want to see what else is out there. But, I'm beautiful enough--don't need the Beauty Detox icon_wink.gificon_lol.gif

Gingerbread: I've been looking over Vegan For Life this morning, and I like it. Good info on those nutrients that vegans need to be sure to get, and that are sometimes the topic of misinformation spread by those who think vegan diets aren't healthy. Thx!
