Brothers: Birth order? Gay brother?

I'm the youngest of four boys, which means I fit neatly into that whole "older brother" theory of... gayness. My gay cousin also has an older brother. So anyway I'm just curious: do you have older brothers? How many? Or are you the oldest?

All of my brothers are straight (as far as I know). Do you have a gay brother? If so, who came out first? Did you know he was gay before he came out?

What are your relationships with your brothers like?

These are all pretty pointless questions. I'm just curious.

One of my friends came out later in his 20s, and he was the oldest brother of three.

Interestingly, I do believe his two younger brothers to be straight.

That said, I know several people who have gay siblings. In fact, I can think of four people (gay men) who have gay brothers or sisters.

My brother is gay too, he came out first. He's also older than me. I suspected somewhat but was still kinda surprised. He didn't suspect me at all.

We have good chats about other guys sometimes. :3

I have an older brother. It doesn't always mean that the younger brother will be gay. It's statistically more likely that each younger brother will be gay. No one is quite sure why yet, but there are theories.

I am the youngest too. I have 2 older brothers, both straight, 1 is married and 1 is divorced. I also have an oldest sister, straight and married. I have 3 nephews and 1 niece. That theory about the youngest gay brother seem to fit in my situation. I have an amicable relationship with them. But they are not gay so it's hard to talk about gay/sex/dating/men with them sometimes ! icon_neutral.gif

I'm the oldest of 4. My dad had 2 after the divorce and my mom had 1. My youngest brother is a possibility, but I'm not sure yet.

It's just an interesting finding. I don't think it's fully understood. And obviously you don't need older brothers to be gay, I wasn't trying to suggest that.

I'm an only child. Meaning, the first one.

So for me that theory does not fit. I personally think there is more then one biological mechanism in which one can be gay.

There is evidence to suggest against it... did you read the whole article?

I would also suggest you directly look at the sources as people weed out important assumptions and data taken from the actual sources and rephrase it on wiki.

Professor Ashley Monks of the University of Toronto agrees with you and so do I.

Younger brother. He/oldest lives as a straight men, though I did accidentally walk in on him and one of his high school buddies jerking off together.

No big deal, though. I already had a secret boyfriend so I pretended to not see them (had to get something out of drawer) and never said anything about it.

If he ever sees this post and recognizes me, I don't give a fuck. We haven't talked in over two years so maybe it'll be a conversation starter. icon_lol.gif

I am the younger brother and the gay one.

I never knew about the study until my brother brought it up to me. Honestly I think it does not matter but it was an interesting theory and read.

Yeah, I agree that there are probably a lot of factors that go into it. And to be honest, I haven't read any of the actual studies because... I don't really care to. I find the question of what causes someone to be gay mildly interesting, but only as a conversation piece. When it comes down to it, I don't really care why I'm gay. I just am.

I'm the middle child. My older brother is 21 and younger is 14. I'm positive neither one of them is gay. It's girls on their minds 24/7... gross haha!

Youngest, with 2 older brothers. I think my middle brother may be gay. But I'll end up coming out to my family before he does I'd wager.

I'm youngest as well, none of my brothers are gay. In fact, none of my extended family is gay as far as I know, I guess I'm lucky icon_razz.gif

The middle between and older sis/bro and younger sis/bro. My cousin is also a younger brother with his little bro also being gay.

My older bro has been growing with the concept of being gay and I just came out to my cousin who is also gay. My cousin and I are more like brothers with this situation, haha.

I know a set of twins, one gay and his brother straight.

Also know a gay pair of twins. Not sure they fall in this model.

I have an older sister, so not sure I do either.
