Gaming forum? Isn't it full of untolerable fanboys?

Other forums I've been a part of were either unable to handle my boldness or they would be too much like our Politics forums. Everyone hating everyone, no one being honest with themselves. Just senseless and unfulfilling. I don't know why a gay life, health and fitness website is different from the others, but I like it.

I used to be very active on modelmayhem.com forums (almost 50K posts), but haven't logged in recently because I haven't been shooting.

I used to be on city-data.com to discuss cities, demographics, and architecture lol. They had an interesting Photography section too.

Actually, I seem to be a bit of the center of attention on other sites. Particularly one that never had a direct purpose, just a random as forum that someone started and people somehow found it. I had a lot of political power on this forum. People respected the shit out of me and loved me. Then one day, the mods (who were terrified of my power) found me posting something a little provocative and they permabanned me which was completely against the ToS.

What ensued still makes me feel so warm and fuzzy. Some of the closest friends I have today (who valued their sanctuary on that forum) risked their memberships for me and pretty much went full scale war against the admin team. More than half of the entire userbase was banned and everyone else left, because there was nothing left for them.

Remind me not to get on your bad side. icon_wink.gif

Flyertalk.com, for frequent flyer stuff. It's very heavily moderated, though, more a source for information.

Lol Yes I have, the two forums go hand and hand. I never joined tho, those forums start to get very repetitive after a while.

Its only MAW? Maybe its your interest and not the site itself?

I have a couple of real life guy friends on there and a few real life women friends, but most of the people that follow my pins or the people that I follow are women as that mostly who is there.

I used to be on city data too!!! But I got banned... People there are so conservative. Every joke and pun I made was seen as a personal attack or was considered inapporiate. The difference between CD and RJ is like night and day. You can get away with murder here...icon_twisted.gif

Yes, I'm on a few hobby- and sports- specific forums. Some of them turn out to be incredibly useful.

For example, there's one just for owners of the particular brand of old boat that I have. If you're not sure how to fix something, or how a particular piece of rigging (that's half gone and modified six times by previous owners) is supposed to work, the answer, with pictures and diagrams, usually comes back within an hour.

There are other forums that just focus on the engine. Or on the tractor.

It does seem that the more focused and specific a forum is, the less likely it is to devolve into flame wars. Although I suspect that the owners of those sites put some considerable effort into moderating them.

depends on what kind of gaming forum it is. i belong to off duty gamer; (it's mainly for prior service members) people who know the business end of an m4 from a claymore. that and a gun forum...where they hate homosexuals...and oddly enough i've met quite a few people on here who hate guns and/or gun owners...

    Noice!
(re:bolded text) been there. Had an enemy on the mod team who had no integrity and banned me despite not breaking rules. Did not make a second account.
Maybe the reason RJ isn't moderated is because the admin thinks it's impossible to find a person who does the job with professionalism and credibility. I don't know if I've ever come across a mod or admin that didn't throw their weight around or bend the rules for friends/enemies. It tough to find someone who will ban their friend and stand up for their enemy because the rules dictate it.

I've only been on official forums dedicated to certain games. It's a mix of l33ts who treat everyone like shit, fanboys who praise everything about the game, even flaws (even flaws after they've been fixed), and a few sane people put off by the rest.
Elder Scrolls forums were good though, as the community makes improvements to the game, so it was a more friendly and grateful atmosphere.
