my good mate's 20th is coming up this weekend and because im dirt poor i drew up a picture of us and framed it instead of getting him a new snapback like i usually do haha.

what would you prefer as a gift? something with some sot of sentimental value or something that you can actually use?

heres a picture of what i drew up for him just in case anyone was curious to see how it turned out haha hopefully he likes it

Terrific! You do great work and that aside, just the fact that you put forethought into the present should mean a lot.

Its a personal gift that has involved your time and effort - so I think its a great choice. If he is a good mate he will appreciate it

Something original with a lot of thought put into it is always more valuable to me than some overpriced gift.

I think it's really sweet that you made that picture for your friend. icon_smile.gif

@ OP, you're freakin awesome! When I came out of being homeless on the streets in CO and Xmas came around, I struggled between buying fancy gifts I could afford then, or making something. So, I wrote everyone in my family personal Xmas letters and gave them $50 gift certificates to their favorite places to shop, or eat. The response was priceless and I don't think I could top it ever again, but cards are the way to go for me. Making one yourself is the sweetest, coolest, and most caring thing you could do. =D ; )

    Such a cool picture!

The older I get the more I want presents that I can keep, things that have sentimental value. I can buy DVDs and clothes and stuff like that, but I want people to put thought into things. I don't need expensive stuff from friends and family.

    Amazing work!

Any gift from the heart is better than a gift card, in my opinion.

Ditto. The artwork is something that exists nowhere else in the world, and so priceless.

Even if you had all the money in the world, you could not buy a better gift than that. Your friend will treasure that forever.

    I agree with Medfordguy.

That gift will be cherished for ages. In fact, it will likely gain in value as the two of you get older.

It's difficult to stay close with friends as the years pass and you have given him something that will remind him of this moment in time and your devoted friendship for many years to come!

That is awesome. I'm sure he will treasure it - years later he will come across it from time to time and even if you are not around, he will have wonderful fond thoughts of your friendship.
