Unhappy and disappointed in myself

Look i know, many of you think im hot (Which i am flattered, thank you for all the comments)
But I need to vent tonight because I am very angry with myself.

As many of you know I had a goal of reaching 170-175 by june 15th of 2012 (It also happens to be the start of Columbus Gay pride). Well I am currently in the 190-193 range and have been there for little over a month. With little to no change. I have been eating healthy. With of course some problems over the weekend, particularly Sundays because all our family dinners/outings are on sunday, so its like my treat day.

    I work out 5-6X a week (Monday-Sat)
Normally when i workout it is an 40min-hour on the treadmill
and normally 1 hour of lifting

When I noticed my weight hitting a plateu I would mix up my workout and sure enough that would do the trick.
But last month when I hit this Plateu, things were a little different, mainly because my strength in my workouts continued to grow, about 5lbs a week actually. But I was still freaking out because I wasnt losing weight.

So when I had a doctors appointment, I discussed with my doctor my weight goals. He claimed for guys like me, 170 would be pushing it, 180 would be better. He also did my BMI. I am currently at 12% body fat, at 193, thats 25lbs of body fat. I set my goal then to lose 15lbs.
Sense I have lost a few more pounds but not enough to reach my goal in time for June 15th.

I am sad, and bitter with myself. It pisses me off because I failed, even with the goal changed to 180.
Can anyone help me? Tell me about your experiences, your goals?
How did you achieve them? How can I be better? I want my body to be the best it can be. I want to be the best I can be. Should I cut out sunday treats?
I joined RJ because I wanted peoples advice, in yet I have never really asked for it.
    Can someone help me?

You've got way bigger issues than how you look (which, is not an issue).

Don't set goals and objectives - that way you avoid disappointment and doubly appreciate it when you exceed your expectations. It works for me - I don't stress over having lost 85 lbs instead of 95, and being told by my gym manager yesterday that I had an eight pack, and running for the first time in over twenty years the day before that, came as pleasant surprises. So what if it took a year instead of six months.

Crossfit and paleo diet. I started both just a couple of weeks ago and I can see the fat just melting away. I love it.

The last few body % of fat are the hardest to lose. Have you been keeping a log of your diet to see what you can cut out. It's okay to have cheat days but if you find that that's what is preventing you from your goal then you will have to decide between the two.

Also have you adjusted how much calories you're taking in as you've progressed in your cut?

So your BMI is 27....with a range of 25 to 29 ; which is over weight...> 30 would be obese.

Cut out all carbs and pastas; no sodas (even diet ones...)
you're lifting too often and too much.

Add more cardio: 60 to 90 mins / day.

Use an APP, like MY Fitness Pal, to gauge your weekly weight goals
(ie. to lose 1-2 lbs / week).

Finally....avoid the indulgence of the Sunday family dinners...
you're treating yourself way too much....try once a month...

Is this a loss of fat that you want, or are you going by your BMI? You could've exchanged fat weight for muscle weight. Not a bad thing. I've done that since I started going to the gym, and I don't weigh myself.

Honestly dude, dont worry about it.

Here is my take on the whole thing.

No one will want to be with you because of your "abs". Quite frankly, they may want to sleep with you, but that doesnt really change who you are as a person. Stop obsessing over it. From your post, it sounds like it is becoming an issue (like sign up for counseling at the school issue...). 12% body fat? Thats not very much man. And to get to lost that last 3% (and any more would be unhealthy) you really have to be in a perpetual state of hunger. Personally, its not worth it, but others may digress. Like some have said, cut out all carbs, sugar, sodas, and so forth. You will be irritable, grumpy, and a jerk, but hey, you will be hot (and thats all that counts, right?)

I dont have abs and I have never had an issue getting guys to want to sleep with me. Attraction is 50% personality, 50% looks. If you are a positive, upbeat, happy people, then others will be naturally drawn to you. If you keep looking down on yourself, they will be pushed away.

Peace, and may you find what you are looking for!

No offense but a majority of these responses are wrong, you arn't eating too much, or working out too little, it is because you are gaining muscle, and as we all know, muscle weighs more than fat.

You are at 12% body fat which is AMAZING! To lose more body fat is a reasonable goal, but to lose weight is not. You should focus more on getting your body composition to what percent you would like, say 8% i'm guessing, and stop worrying about your physical weight. As you lose body fat and gain muscle you will weigh more.

I would rather have a low body fat percentage than a low weight. The more muscular you are the less you will even care about your weight icon_smile.gif

I think if you have reached some of your goals, you should consider it a success. I'd chat with a trainer who can evaluate you physically and some of your goals (to see if they are realistic. Sometimes our goals are very difficult to reach because they may be improssible. Be reasonable and practical when making your goals.

He doesn't have 12% body fat though, you can tell by his pictures. I don't know where he got that number from other than wishful thinking.

before i even read what your doctor said i was immediately looking at your height in your profile. One of my biggest problems was getting used to the fact that, for my body size, 160 is my natural median weight.

Now, i'll echo some of the other guys here in saying that sometimes our goals are not met. And sure its a letdown, but we learn from our failures. In fact, the only time you TRULY fail is if you do NOT learn or take anything away from a missed goal.

Hell, there's even a musical number for this situation!!

oh...ignore that last bit at the end of the video, lol icon_wink.gif

For someone that is too much of a coward to put his own pics, you sure do have a lot of comment for other guy's appearances. You truly are a worthless piece of shit.

I didn't want to make other posters self-conscious about how great my body is... I think they can take my suggestions better when they're not embarrassing themselves by comparing their bodies to mine.

Fat and out of shape old queen pretending to be young?, covered in zits and ingrown hairs where the fat sits up against itself? hmm no thanks none of us would be comparing ourselves to that troll!

Dude I know you lost a ton of weight. First of all you are hot now. You should probably be at 195 with muscle.

If you lose 15 lbs in the next month your skin will be hanging off your body I'm sure. So not such a good idea.
