Absolutely! So many gay guys are big babies when it comes to words. I'm pretty real; I tell it like it is and I expect the same from those I associate with, whether they be gay or straight. It's the only way to be, in my opinion.

Of course they are dude. Gay men in American society have to be paranoid all of the time, even the ones who are accepting of themselves and open. This society tends to be openly and secretively hostile to homosexuals. What's your question again bro? Despite all of this media about it not being homo hostile. But I could be wrong of course.

    thin skin.

We've had a rougher-than-average time going through puberty than our peers. It's left us with tender spots that we usually don't bother to sort out. We get more easily offended as a result. I also find we have a bigger chip on our shoulder to hide our thin skin.

For what it's worth, I know PLENTY of heterosexual dudes who are really hypersensitive. Like, ridiculously sensitive. Some people just are, straight or gay, and others aren't. I think I'm actually pretty thick-skinned, most of the time.

Yeah there's society, but there's also biology. I know I can be thin skinned, I'm sure some of it has to do with my adolescence, but I suspect at least SOME of it has to do with hormones in the womb. I mean think about it, women tend to be more sensitive than men.

Very thick skinned. I dont get offended nor provoked easily. I think it's due to the philosophy I live by

I am working on getting a thicker skin. I never associated my sensitivity with my orientation before. I get skinnybitch's point, but I also think it's a personality trait. Everyone processes experiences differently.

Most definitely, since the vast majority of gay men are liberals and liberals' skin is like tissue paper.

I'm kind of an insensitive ass much of the time.

I'm fairly thick skinned, though I'll admit once I think I've been particularly wronged, I'll remember it.

Growing up in a str8 man's world makes us all look for validation. When we feel we aren't noticed; appreciated; respected; valued...etc. we fly into a velvet rage.

(My hubby is a psychiatrst,,,,can you tell?)

anyway this is an excellent book that deals with it and helps you find peace

Depends on who's giving me shit.

If it's someone I care about it can hurt deeply but if it's just some jumped up queen making eyerolls/bitchy comments then it's like water off a duck's back.

Like other posters have said, during adolescence some of us encounter a lot of negativity purely because of our sexuality. Having an inferiority complex from such a young age cannot be a good thing for our development.

I think gay men are much too hard on themselves though. Much worse than the shit they get from anyone else.

Meh! I take in more then I put out so I'd like to think my skin is pretty thick. I do, however, have certain things I'm not willing to nor refuse to tolerate as I'm sure everyone does.

too generalized to make any assumptions other than based on personal opinion but does it really matter?

Might as wel ask, do you think African American men are more hung than White American men or are they just more thick skinned?
