Not so much mate, I think that most places and trends have moved on past that.

I guess when I was growing up in West Australia, having a piercing in the right earlobe would have been seen as a sign that you were gay.. you could only get one in your right side if you had two or three in your left...lol

I've had both sides pierced single piercing with a CBR since the late 90's and now I'm in my 40's I've found nobody really gives a rats ass icon_smile.gif

I honestly don't think it holds any meaning anymore whatsoever. Plus I always thought it was the left ear?

Pretty out dated I think... I'm sure it still gets the point across though...

Is there something new out there that's supposed to be a subtle similar sign that's more in tune with the times?

Well, it means when I'm facing them I have to look towards the left to see it.

...OK I'll go look it up on Google, brb.

I think Pride Rings took their place in the early 90's...???

I haven't seen a pierced right ear in YEARS. I think Tats have replaced pierced ears...i'm guessing.

No: Left is right, and right is wrong. However, that is more applicable to politics in this day and age.

blech! Do what you like to your body, it's your temple. I have always had multiple piercings and seem to have grown up just fine.

I'm always aware of and abide by the side and color codes, though I know that a (perhaps) majority may not. See what's the norm in your community or amongst people you hang around with. Always do what's best for you and realize that it may be misinterpreted by both ignorant fools (straight and gay) and die-hard traditionalists.

It means they're bi... oh wait it's not 1987 anymore. icon_smile.gif

I've learned not to read too much into piercings and things like that as it's more than one thing that indicates sexuality- it's a combination of many things. Or you can ask them if they're single.

By the way, I just wanted to know because I came out two weeks ago. And some of my straight friends still think it's the gay ear

I think it has more meaning to straight guys who are worried people will think they're gay (i.e. every straight guy).
