Went to my 2nd NPC Bodybuilding competition in Charleston, S.C. and happy to see the new Physique category that's been added. It's for natural and drug free competitors. You can tell some of the old muscle heads don't like this new category, you should've heard some of the abusive language in the audience from freakn meatheads..i..e calling 'em fags and skinny and crap. In all honesty, they are probably just jealous that these guys have been able to obtain their physiques naturally without all the performance enhancement drugs. I think that look is so 80's, late 90's anyway, today who in the hell really wants to look like big roided out juice head with the big pregnant belly after they compete...lol

Anyway, this one competitor truly stood out, though he only placed 4th, he probably should've won. Heard later that he placed 1st and overall in a NPC Competition a few weeks earlier. My friend and I got a chance to talk to him after the show, talk about super hot but the nicest guy. He's new to the physique competition scene, but also a fitness model and personal trainer. They had over 100 guys competing in this new classification, mostly in their mid 20's to early 30's. It's exciting to see.

His name is Steven Kuchinsky and he just launched his website, which is killer, talk about super HOT!!!... http://kuchfit.com/

Will be sure to be following this hot hunk's career! icon_biggrin.gif

Not sure what the OPs intentions are,but Steve is hot.

And this Physique category, as nice as it is that they have it, is almost a joke.

A friend of mine competed in a competition in February and won 1st place. He competed in a competition in March, and ended up much lower. It's becoming more and more known that the winners/rankings are political in nature, including the women's figure and bikini competitions. Many agreed that the results from his March show don't make sense.

To be fair, part of the issue is that there hasn't been any definitive governing body to make a decisive call on exactly what types of "physiques" they are looking for. There's even a divide of what east coast competitions are looking for (harder and more ripped) vs. what west coast competitions are looking for (softer and less ripped).

I dunno Steve, you have pretty decent legs. A year or two of solid leg training and I think you can easily compete in bodybuilding. Remember, bodybuilding is about size/symmetry/proportion. You don't need to be a freaky huge juicer to win.

Ha! someone has been using my pic for years, so busted, take a hike!

And nah, not Steve, though after meeting wanted to give him some shout outs and send to RJ's members i know, so stop the hating. If you've got something legitimate to say, cool, otherwise move on.

And fuk the BB crap, who in the hell wants to pump yourself up with juices to look like that anymore or compete. Or even wants to see that anymore, unless u get off on big juice heads prancing around in bikinis on stage, then more power to you. But keep the hot babes in bikinis prancing around on stage! lol

You ever see any of these guys in their late 40's/50's, if they haven't had liver, kidney or heart problems by then their lucky. Hell, I used to compete myself and stopped once started having own health issues.

Whether you think the Physique category is natural or not, is your choice. I guess until they actually start testing before shows we'll never really know. But with this category of competing growing, i think its a good thing as it gives guys something more realistic to achieve, naturally and drug free. Yes, one can say their is politics involved in how they select the winners, but probably can't get around that.

    @ecnaz

Not sure I would call this new category a joke, but would agree with you about the political in nature. I think right now its mostly being governing, if you want to call it that, by the NPC, which sure u know what that means, back to the joke thing.

But I think they're smart to try and move into this arena. The two NPC shows i attended, the place was only 50% full, so clearly the bodybuilding thing is wearing out and not attracting the younger generations. I think most folks leave after their friends or family members compete. And the whole event is actually a big 'yawn'

But being able to sculpt your body naturally and drug free is possible, with serious dedication, discipline and focus. And know what you're doing in the diet and supplementation department. Let's see if this really takes off. I think the kid Gregg Plitt was the first dude to be put out there on all the fitness mags, but I don't think he actually ever competed.

Clearly with the obesity rates rising and not declining in this country, anything out there that can promote health and fitness is needed.

The Physique Category has nothing to do with being "drug free". Often time, people in that category will spread the rumor that it's drug free so they can steel some attention away from the Bodybuilding Category, but it's a fallacy. Besides, that would imply that the other categories were okay with steroid use.

Most/all "drug free" competitions rely on polygraph testing. Also, when I say Physique guys aren't drug free, I'm not only referring to anabolic steroids. I'm also referring to diuretics and anything else to help them get lean/ripped.
