Everyone ages and there is nothing we can do about it, but for some reason that is what terrifies me the most. When I was younger all I wanted to do was get to 21. When I turned 21 I was fine... but as soon as I hit 22 I started obsessing about how "time was getting away from me". Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to stop obsessing about your aging?icon_neutral.gif

Think about NOT getting older. You have no guarantee of living.

Besides what wrong with getting older?

I guess the main reason I don't wanna get old is the fear that I wont be able to do the activities that I enjoy anymore

Dude, you're being silly. You will not begin to see any real aging til you hit about 37. From now til then it will only be improvement. Enjoy it.

It will hit you eventually, but in your 20's it's too young to have it.

    I'm almost 36, and I bet I could take ya. icon_wink.gif

I understand your sentiments, but you're active and can enjoy a long "youth." No one thinks I'm in my mid-thirties. I would argue that the 30's-50's are the best time of your life. Younger than that and you are still flopping around in life like a puppy whose feet are too big. Beyond that age you still often have a great deal of choice about the degree to which you do or do not remain active. Choose happiness, whatever that means to you.

Maybe it comes from half of my friends being married. People get married young in the military

Seriously...fear of aging?? How about being dead before you're 40??
Now, you might have something to fear.
As I say in every birthday card I send to my family and friends...
"Remember, birthdays are Good for you....
the more you have, the longer you live!!"

age comes faster and faster. chances are you won't ever lose the fear until you get a tad older and realize it gets sweeter by the year. you'll see. just stay on top of your game.

its comical to hear the younger generation comment on older guys. we have been exactly where they are and enjoy the myopic perspective they are still in. no harm done, assuming you become a developmentally sound person. im in my generative years now, and reap those rewards. until you reach somewhere approaching 40, you just do not get the same respect from society as a whole. you shall see, should you and all of us be so BLESSED to age. icon_biggrin.gif

There are only two ways to stop the aging process.

Scientists are still working on making the second way work.

forgeting it isnt easy if you were already obssessed about aging.
    I'm 20 and no one thinks I'm 20 icon_lol.gif and I dont even care about it , I always think I am 14 - 15 years old icon_lol.gif
just spend your time doing a lot activities , you'll forget it soon.
    ----------------------------------------------
No one could avoid aging , everyone will be old soon . The important thing is what you can do when you still have time to do.
    Hope you'll be fine icon_smile.gif

You can't prevent getting older, except by dying. icon_biggrin.gif

Having said that, getting older is OK, and long as you don't grow up.

Keep your mind young and the only time you'll think about getting older when you look in the mirror, or you need more recovery time between sets.

Actually I didn't even begin to physically peak until my late thirties. As for the rest, there will never be enough time to do everything you want to do so reconcile yourself to that and die trying like everyone else.

Dude, you look like you are of African descent. What the hell? With reasonable care of your body and diet, your ancestral blood should lend you a long life span unless you are not in touch with that part of your reality. Eat right, get your rest, and exercise, and you should live many years. Now if your concern is looking young for the rest of your life, well then that's another discussion altogether bro, lol.

The worst part about turning 30 was the days before turning 30. Such dread about how to not waste my 20s. Once my birthday hit, it was too late and I went back to not caring. I reckon that lesson would be valid for life.

The best part about turning 30 was surviving the year 2000.
I'd looked forward to that day since I'd learned to associate years with my birthdays. icon_wink.gif

OMG Boys - we have spent trillions of dollars trying to figure out how to live longer, healthier lives.

If you don't like the thought of it...I believe you can figure out the alternative.

If ya don't wanna live past 23...don't.

Ya really think yer gonna be missed????
