Any exercises for LOWER abdominal area and lower butt ??

    I'm a guy in his 50s, 6 feet, 155 pounds. Slim but toned and generally look great. Except for my lower abdomen, below my navel, and on my lower butt. So this is a mid-body, front side and back side issue. I want to pull in my lower belly, and fill out my lower butt. LOL

    I'm looking for exercises I can do at home, OR at the gym using some of the machines there. Any suggestions?

    You can do pilates or anything that will help your core... That will tone up your lower abs. As far as your butt, lying leg curls tend to do the trick... you won't get immediate results, but overtime they will tighten up.

    Yeah, core strengthening excercises. Try some spin classes or other cardio related things.

    If that doesn't work, squats lol.

    Lower abs are tough. Not only is that one of the body's favorite areas to invest in a little fat, I've found, but I think some of us just don't have the natural musculature in this area to define it as easily as the upper abs. (Beware: I think one mistake people sometimes make is to overdevelop the upper abs in order to compensate, which can give you kind of a mid-torso gut.) Leg lifts, on the floor or on a bench, can isolate the lower abs. But also be sure to work the obliques, which can kind of camouflage some lower-ab flab.

    Of course, you can get rid of the ab flab with more intense cardio, but that could also work against your goal of filling out your lower butt, or hamstrings. I agree with Gmack that leg curls can help your hammies; and putting some weight on those curls can build the muscle in this area, and help fill out your butt.

    A friend just told me today that rollerblading and ice skating work your lower abs very well.

    I told him he was full of shit, so now he invited me to go ice skating this weekend so he can train me and prove it.

    Now I'm nervous cause I've never been ice skating. icon_lol.gif
