So I really need help. I'm 147 lbs and 5' 9". Most people call me very skinny, but here is my dark secret: my waist is almost 34".

My target is to get it down to 31" without losing any weight. I have a healthy low carb diet, with a generous portion of white meat, fruit, veggies and lentils. Probably around 2200 calories per day.

I've been doing HIIT cardio on the treadmill and eliptical trainer for a couple of weeks now, but am concerned that it will make me lose weight and muscle.

What kind of a workout should I do to get toned? I just want to lose my love handles and belly fat - don't really want to look supper ripped nor super scrawny. Just healthy.

    How?

Near-sighted men will believe the ball is your head and your wide hips will now be a manly chest. http://www.beastskills.com/ has a tutorial on how.

Read this and I feel the answer continues to be with your diet..Abs are made in the kitchen...Take a notebook and start a food log...measure everything that goes in your mouth...food wise...ha...Tweak diet to perfection...Good Luck

Planks. My waist size didn't budge for months but when I started doing them on a regular basis at least every other day I went down 2 inches in a month.

Yes. I'd do that for a minute on my elbows, do one on each side for 30 sec each, and come back around and do one more regular one for 30-60 seconds. This was at least every other day for a month, and I was down 2 inches. I haven't stuck with it since though and have remained about the same.

I reckon you have metabolic syndrome. This is where you have generous visceral fat (inside your abdomen) and lean subcutaneous fat stores. Goes with certain ethnic groups. Google it for more information.

You exchanged fat for dense compact muscle. It's really not an issue. icon_wink.gif

I went from a 29 to a 33'' waist... because i was doing 25lb lower back raises on the roman chair. I quit that and started doing a lot of cycling and i was back down to a 30'' waist in no time. Also, keep your intestinal system loose. Lime juice will work on that. Hope that helps...
