A true rice and potatoes relationship!

I never understood why potatoes are considered a "white" food. Just because of the Irish? Potatoes are native to the Americas!

Doesn't surprise me a bit. Except that the Asians don't make their peace pipes look as cool so there's no way they're related.

Nice find....This confirms the several findings including National Geographic's GENOGRAPHIC project, which has been extended due to great interest and success. On that site you can click on the timeline to see the migration of humanity from Africa. In fact, it's rather incredible that all people on earth today are descendant of a clan in Africa. All descendants of other men from that time are NO LONGER around (genetic drift).... About 40,000 years ago, one single man (or clan) are the ancestors of all Europeans and a large population of Asian. How do we know this?

Everyone's genes also shows a history of where he/she comes from. The genographic project (National geographic) took blood tests from tens of thousands of indigenous people to find out the history of DNA changes. They found in the DNA a marker carried by all European and Asian people: M89 ... It means that about 40,000 years ago, a group of people from Africa with market M89 became the ancestors of all Europeans and Asians. This group then divide into many other groups. People with marker M45 and M175 are the east Asian... they move around in east Asia then to the Americas to become the Native American as we know today (marker M3, 92R7, M45, and M173). European has the marker M173, M45 (but not 175). There are a variety of european clans with different markers... There isn't a while clan. There is not a marker to show that you are 'white'. In fact the word "white" is a problem (a useless word) for DNA scientists and anthropologists.

Recently, DNA of remains of neanderthal (early human species found in Europe) show that both Europeans and Asians have 1-4 percent of neanderthal genes, which make these 2 groups more closely related. The Journey of Man PBS documentary also shows there are indigenous clans in Africa showing east Asian and European traces.

I am a Native American of the Navajo people. This genetic link does not really surprise me at all because many anthropologists had done this for while. I seen some of the research that they purpose that claims there is a cultural, linguistic, and genetic link to the people of Asia. I think they are on to something! icon_smile.gif

Many of the Navajo animals have the same or similar meanings in China!

How is this surprising? Its obvious since the first migrations to the America's came from the west (the west of the America's = Asia)... tens of thousands of years before people arrived from the east (the east of the America's = Europe and Africa)

Maybe it's just about time I embrace my incredibly distant Asian heritage already?

In the end, we are all related somehow. When I was a kid and saw a Native American woman on television, I thought she was Asian...
