An interesting observation about the supposed preference for youth...

I hear very often the ours is a youth driven culture, and that youth is the underlying defining feature of being beautiful/attractive...

    But does that play out??

If you look at what people do, versus what they say, I'm not certain that idea holds water. I just did a profile search, arranged all +300k results by most hot listed, and what I found seems to undermine the concept of 18-22 being the most attractive demographic. Of the top 50 results, only one guy was under 25 (and I don't think he even participates here anymore), and he is listed at being 23. I may have overlooked someone, but I don't remember a single 18-22 year old being there, and I think the average age of those listed would probably be over 30-32 years old.

Yes, there absolutely are stunning men who are young; however, either the definition of youth needs to be expanded upward, or else it seems FITNESS now defines attractiveness, not AGE. But this site may also be skewed, since the focus here is on fitness AND socializing, and the young often have not yet grown into their bodies (to say nothing of their socializing skills, which vary wildly from person to person).

    Do you agree or disagree?

The idea that youth is attractive is bogus. Men get hotter with age. They can put on more muscle, exude more masculinity, and drive me wild!

The young guys? They think they are hot shit but in actuality give me a worked out 30 year old over a sculpted 20 year old any day of the week.

    Just sayin.

This is a fitness health & life site. Men don't hit there physical prime until 26-35, so the guys that will most likely have the hottest bodies are gonna be around that age in my opinion. Its also just a preference thing. So guys are attracted to old, some to younger.

Like fine wine, some men are best enjoyed while young and some when they have had time to mature.

Beaujolais Nouveau, Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC), is best enjoyed in its' youth...virtually fresh out of the vat meeting the definition of "wine". Pop that cork as quickly as it becomes an "adult" on the third Thursday of November. Its' frosh nature should be totally consumed before Easter (if not sooner). Besides, another batch will reach "adulthood" in a mere few months for those who long to taste the sweetness of a youth in their mouth.

Château Latour, Premier Grand Cru Classé à Pauillac, Médoc, an exceptionally exquisite year may not be ready for consumption until long and late "adulthood". When young, Château Latour can twist and rip your tongue right out of your mouth due to the high tannic acid and high alcohol levels. Some will insist upon taking on this strong, hard-bodied wine in its' youth to glean a glimpse into its' future. Most, however, will be patient and allow time to mellow the tannins, and marry the flavors into a deep, rich, soul-moving experience. Truly memorable. This becomes a label and a vintage which you will want to stock up on and savor over decades.

The wisest connoisseurs know that there is a time and a place for both. And, to keep both on hand for satisfaction of taste and desire. It's an "AND", not an "OR".

It's one thing to hotlist or chat up a 40 or 50 something when he's across the country ... quite another when he's across town. Something to consider ...

In the straight world, whatever type of girl you say you're into doesn't affect how attractive you are perceived by other girls, since it's the opposite sex. Whereas in the gay world, every time you hotlist someone who doesn't look like you, it's a vote against your type's own desirability to other men. Hence in the gay world, what is deemed attractive (even if not sincerely) tends to be closer to what comprises the majority of the gay demographic.

Youth = Beauty only exclusively plays out for women (as far as mass-marketed ideals of beauty). Look at the modeling industry. Girls snatched up into fashion as young as 13, and by the time they hit 23-25 it's buh bye grandma. Look at men in fashion. Men in their late 20's, 30's even 40's still booking top fashion work even in the strictest markets.

Not to say this is a body building site, but the way the "most hotlisted list" looks, it would seem like so. A mans body looks better beyond their early 20s and well into their 30s, while those younger lads havent grown Into their body the same way, hence less people checking them (and their hot body) out.

Also notice how no one has a shirt on in any of the most hot listed.

I for one and in love with guys under 30.

I don't like guys with too much mass, and the reason that the ideal guy on RJ screws older is because at around 30 you are really good at putting on muscle.

I don't like to much muscle so I love young dudes like CHD88 icon_razz.gif

Many 18-22 year olds in the Plano area are in Community College, 4-year college, in church, working and living with their parents. Here, does a person really want to leave their parents' home to live in another domestic institution without civil union or marriage? Without civil union or marriage, you just don't have the security and co-sign of domestic expenses that one gets with parents. Those who judge 18-22 year olds as attractive are aware of this and those who are 18-22 years old don't have much time to care. Let them get of their dorms/college apartments.

Can they be good looking? Yes. Are they attractive as described above (adding that they don't want anyone 10 years older than themselves anyway), somewhat. (I follow Chinese Astrology, so, in that age range, I'm only looking for a 22 year old, someone born in the year of the Horse with Heaven Element Metal because Tiger-Dog-Horse is a trine and Metal nurtures Water (my Heaven element is Water). You can see my profile for the full age range that is attractive to me.

Also, I pay attention to my Peach Blossoms. The Peach Blossoms of the Tiger-Dog-Horse trine is Year of the Cat (same as Year of the Rabbit).

Since I'm in competition with Dogs and Horses for Year of the Cat people (I was a crowd extra in the movie Cat People, decades ago) I have to look at this:

    Cat Rabbit is

    Soul mate to Dog
    In kind with Tiger
    Resolves karma with Horse.

    To make matters worse

The Cat Rabbit has his/her own Peach Blossom someone born in the year of the Rat.

However, a year of the Tiger person does not have three signs chasing his peach blossom because Tigers are not peach blossoms.

Cat/Rabbit people have more options in Romance than do Tiger people.

One of my lovers is not only a Cat Person but a Gemini (Air Sign). Jesus, you can't always build a love life on solid rock!
