I am sure these 2 related topics have been covered but it doesn't hurt to discuss it again. It'd be awesome if some of us can encourage each other in these difficult times for guys who are struggling with either not working, switching career, looking to start a new industry in general or others situation. I'll go first.

1/ Career, well I just moved back from San Francisco, got out of the Customer Service/Marketing world, feeling really drained for a while. I just got my bartender license and hoping to do bartending either full or part time and/or working for a music label/film/tv channel. I realized that being in the LA area is not enough, the competition for everything is fierce here. Anyway, I'm being positive and keep on looking and networking around.

2/ Dating/Love life: since I moved back to Southern Cal, there are a lot for eye candies in the area. I've been dating casually seeing a couple of a little older guys, a couple of younger dudes, I can't seem to break my nothing more than a first date spell. Not really interested in pursuing things further because I don't think I have found *The one yet.

What about you guys, let's share. icon_cool.gif

    1) Career - I make more now than I ever have. It's only a recession if you choose to participate, hunny.

    2) Love - I'm marrying myself while simultaneously being stalked by the man of my dreams.

    Life is good.

    Suck it, haters. icon_twisted.gif

Some careers are recession-proof like being a porn star on Sean Cody! icon_wink.gificon_cool.gif

Why would you want your haters to suck it? Wouldn't that make the man of your dreams jealous?

BTW, I'm happy with both economy and love life.

But the haters can't suck it. All they can do is pay $93.99/min to watch.

Actually, he intimated rather subtly (re: completely literally) that he wants to watch other men bone me. I think I may fall in love. MWAHAHAHAHA icon_twisted.gif

Cool, you're in the military! I almost join the navy but got chicken out lol. By the way, I read somewhere that when military folks served out their term, try to look for a job/career, it's hard for them to find work too. So Some or most end up re-enlisting again.

    1. Career - I'm doing OK so far. This summer will be very stressful as I'm not sure my contract will be renewed. I may be out looking for a job, which could be really tough.

    2. Dating - I'm not really on the market right now. I haven't thought of a good way to meet guys in my area when I start dating again. That's always the hardest part for me.

Does it count if I eat a whole roasted chicken and let you carry the bones out to the dumpster so the dog doesn't get in the trash and make a mess?

    1. Make yourself invaluable to your company so they'll either renew your contract or give you a new/better one.
<-- Self employed...go through this shit all the time.

    2. Don't look for dates. Look for enjoyment out of life. Then when you run across a date, you can share that enjoyment instead of using it as a "date."

That sucks, dude, hope your contract will be renewed. As far as dating, try to have an open mind and put yourself out there.

Im hoping to win a big Big BIG LOTTO! ~ for the time being hahaaaicon_razz.gif

I enjoy watching those panicky customers in the bank withdrawing their money and with other investment link products make it all so entertaining now, seriouslyicon_wink.gif

Career: as long the bank still pays me I'm good, customer loves me so does the directors, then its all good.

Love: lastly and sadly No sign of my Prince yet.

    1. I work for a great company with a wonderful group of people. I'm fortunate to be in a career that is essential to my company, and I work hard & do a great job at it.

    2. Have taken some time off after dating someone for a while last spring. Easing back into it now, but not in a hurry to get hitched.

Best wishes for those who are concerned about either. I have it good now, but know what it's like to struggle in both areas.

Money has never been easier to earn.

There are several handsome, well built, amply gifted gentlemen who I frequently spend time with.

    Hope that helps.

1 - I have the same job I had before the economy tanked where alot of people do not so that is good. Pay increases have not kept up with pre-recession standards but I guess I cannot complain.

2 - Going great! Found someone I will be with forever.... ( and he has a beach house!)

Well I don't want to downgrade my living style. So I am applying for a second job. I don't really care what it is but I need to bring in some more money. Actually I just have to much debt so I don't have much of a choice.

That true for the marines, army, and navy but the airforce and coast guard have the most transferable skill sets. We have a lot of rates that transfer easy to the civilian world. I'm not sure about the air force but in the coast guard after you go to your specialty school we have what we call C school that teach you extra things about your specific job. Also all schools in the coast guard give college credits. Don't quote me but I believe we have the highest military to cilvilan employment rate of all the branches. I myself am planning on finishing college an becoming a therapist
