Has anyone gone to an all inclusive that's cheaper (ie under like 1000 for the week) and gay?

or just one that was really super great?

I've been looking into this for , a bit, but reviews are all so sloppy and bitter, or overly gushing. Any personal experiencessss?

    Maybe cuba or mexico?

When I was in Playa del Carmen (mayan riviera, mexico) about 3 years ago I plotted my next trip to the area. Prices may have gone up since then, but at the time there was lots of availability for nice boutique hotels in the city. When you get to the Cancun airport, rent a cheap vehicle. Stay at the hotel. Don't eat at the tourist joints but walk a few blocks to the places the locals eat where the food is authentic and cheap. In the mornings, drive inland to explore ruins. In the afternoon visit beaches up and down the coast. You can snorkel with sea turtles for free at Akumal beach. In the evening Playa del Carmen fills with friendly people to talk to. Anyhow, that was my idea for my next inexpensive trip to that area. It seemed to me that it would be cheaper and more adventurous than a resort.

When it comes to all-inclusive resorts, you get what you pay for. If you are looking at $1,000 per person (that is just for the resort, not the flights) and if it's for a week (let's say 6 nights), you should find something fairly nice.

If you are thinking Mexico, I would seriously consider either the Excellence Resorts properties (one in Cancun, the other in Riviera Maya), which are adults only (not gay, sorry), or The Beloved Hotel in the Cancun area. Excellence owns the Beloved and that resort is family friendly, however, few kids actually are seen at the property.

Excellence can be a bit on the expensive side, but it is well, well, worth the money. A great 5 star resort!

Other hotel/resort properties I recommend would be any of the Riu or the Palace Resorts throughout Mexico.

(travel industry diva here--got questions, ask me)

Here is what is included at any all-inclusive resort:

Food, alcohol (but some resorts charge for "top shelf" liquor), tipping, non-motorized water sports.
