    Hi everybody,
I moved to London 6 months ago for work. I have a decent social life, but all of my friends are straight and they don't know many gay people. So, months ago I started using some dating websites and went out with quite a few guys, but most of the times I didn't click with them and nothing came out of these dates.

To be honest I' a bit tired of dating web sites, it seems I can't find anybody I click with xD On top of that, I'm honestly not into the scene, so I wouldn't go to a gay club (wound't go to a club in general!).

I was wondering if you had suggestions on how to meet new gay people apart from online dating and the scene.

Welcome to London! I totally understand your problem in this city. I wonder, if you particularly want to meet gay friends, whether something like frontrunners would be interesting. Gay running club. Looks like nice people. There are plenty of sports clubs generally - the volleyball club in Bethnal Green sounds a riot!

    OR

I could start my wine club for gay men (Wine Buffs) that I keep talking about...

anyway, good luck, enjoy this rain!

Good advice, interest in Rugby should be peaking at the moment since they just hosted Bingham cup in Manchester.

What about trying outdoorlads.com? They organise a whole range of activities. They're a good place to start to meet people too.

indeed. online dating in London, like online dating in Toronto, is like entering the Kobayashi Maru: a no-win scenario.

you can use the internet to find gay sports leagues, opportunities to volunteer for causes which relate to the gay community you live in (e.g. youth, hiv, pride, etc), and pursuing interests that are organised by the gay community.

these groups are organised by like-minded people who see more and invest more in the gay community other than merely shopping and clubbing (not that there's anything wrong with that, but we're talking about finding more depth here).

there are dozens of these groups in Toronto (my current home) and in Johannesburg (my previous home)... from gay camping, to gay water polo, to youth-empowerment groups, to pride festival volunteers, to gay football, to HIV support/advocacy groups, to movie/book clubs, to gay underwater grilling. if these exist in such smaller cities, I'm sure you'll have no problem finding one or two to suit your interests in London! also, remember that London may seem to be a city which is very quiet/polite/socially conservative and difficult to get to know people, it is also a city composed of mostly expats like yourself looking to make connections. icon_wink.gif

    good luck!

Go to the grocery store, hang out in the produce section, and check out the cucumbers.
