To stay on the up and up I would like a gay dating app. Preferably, I want one that is not a meat market. I know exactly what grindr is and does, are there other options?

MR is good I think. Huffington Post Gay Voices carried a great article by the founder of the App Carl Sander. You can read it here:

Because I live in Europe, specifically Germany, I also use GayRomeo which is very popular here and for the most part pretty friendly. www.GayRomeo.com
    Hope this helps.

"They can also be an emotional minefield, especially for anyone who feels too skinny, too fat, too ethnic, too hairy, too girly, or -- gasp! -- too old, which, in the gay-dating-app world, means anyone over 30."

Shawnathan saidHave you been on Grindr? At the very least it's entertaining.

This is why I never got a Grindr account. Too many jaded fakes.

I had a grindr for a very short time. It was all sex and drama, not what I'm looking for.

I hear exactly what you're saying buddy. It's a pity that all of the sites around for gay guys are meat meat markets, indeed and there's no quality place to meet like minds.

We are in final stages of creating someplace to connect with like-minds, when you're ready for something a little more meaningful than Grindr. Sounds like you are. Follow us here to be notified www.twitter.com/gaymecca

If there was a Grindr Addicts Anonymous, or GAA, the acronym could be pronounced as "GAY".

    That is all.
