I've always been with yahoo and they're fine - reliable, I'm paying 12 bucks a month or something.

Suggest reading a variety of reviews. Google "GoDaddy versus 1&1" for example. I have been happy with GoDaddy for features and customer service. They have good support for WordPress, if that is important to you.

Really depends on what you want to do with it (oh and a lot of these hosts will also include the cost of registering a domain for you but frankly to be safe and ensure you own it, I'd consider doing it on your own - for domain registration ideas from techies and people who do it a lot - http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=150561 ). Consider for instance building a website on top of wordpress - and/or using a template:

    http://blog-services-review.toptenreviews.com/

I'd recommend squarespace (which is what I'm currently looking at for a different site). Which makes it easy for you to build a website and add various functionality. For commerce, consider shopify.com.

    For simply hosting:

I've used Godaddy.com - I'm actually not really all that comfortable with them but whatever you do, before you buy, do a search for "coupons + [name of service]" - it's a competitive space and you invariably can find significant discounts.

Places where you can find templates include:
    http://themeforest.net/
    and http://www.templatemonster.com/

Where you can get almost turnkey websites or ask someone else to customize it for you. If you need to find someone to customize, I recommend either:
    http://www.vworker.com/ (formerly, rentacoder.com)
    http://www.guru.com/
    or https://www.elance.com/

    Best of luck!
