I am trying to increase my chest muscle but I have a concern for increase in fat body percentage. I know your suppose to equal protein and carb level intake but its tricky and hard. From your personal experience did you gain couple pounds of fat during bulking ? I am 180 pounds and the recommendation is 3000 calories...............that is just way too much...im trying for 2200-2500 a day now.....what are your opinions? I did ton of research but I think it is good to hear what others people think sometimes.

Ty in advance for your inputs.

Whenever you try to bulk up, you're going to gain some fat. This will happen any time you take in more calories that you burn. 500-800 calories over your target seems like a little too much. You might want to start out at 200-300 extra per day to start, and gauge your progress after a couple of weeks.

I've tried bulking twice, and each time I gained excess fat. It sucks, but you can always drop the fat later by cutting.

I just finished bulking yesterday. I feel bloated and gross. I realise I can't drop any weight too fast or I'll lose muscle which makes it even more aggravating. I'm not someone that finds abs desirable but for someone who does I can imagine what a nightmare this method of working out would be. Whether or not I'll try bulking again will depend on how long it takes to lose the weight and what the end result looks like. That's the only info I can offer.

Yeah, you're going to gain some fat. It's inevitable. But you will be able to eat everything you ever wanted. And it's totally worth it.

Bulking isn't about eating crap. It's about eating excess but still GOOD food. Granted there is more room for indulgence than normally.

    Well, yeah. Within reason.

So true. As someone who made that mistake the first time around, I can definitely speak from experience. Plus, it's a bitch trying to diet after that. Trying to cut after that was miserable.
