Planning on arriving on the 15th and staying thru the weekend.

    Anyone up for:

    - a Montréal Meetup?

    - showing an innocent Yank around La Belle Cité de Montréal?

    - the "must see" gay areas of interest?

    - and a very long shot: point me to affordable lodging (lol) or maybe even host me in a couch-surfing capacity?

I didn't know that it was next weekend, wish I could go. When I was there a few weeks ago the cheapest hotel that I could find that was near the gay area was Econolodge on Saint-Dominique for about $79. There was a hostel not far either, I think it was called Madeva. Stayed there one night for $20.

Try the B&Bs and hostels in the area. There are a bunch of gay B&Bs by the village. Also there's a hostel at Berri/UQàM which is pretty much the start of the village. I'm guess-timating here with the hostel by the bus terminal, I think it's between 30-50$ a night. The B&Bs go for about 60-120$ a night depending on where you go.

The Montreal gay village is on Rue Ste-Cathérine between the Berri/UQàM and Papineau Metro stops and it stretches one block north and one block south of Ste-Cathérine.

    Sweet!

I made accommodations at the Hotel Viger right on Rue St.-Hubert which is a dead cat's toss from Rue Ste. Cathérine.

I'll coming in Friday - Monday.

I'm in for any advice on what to do or eat.

I had some poutine in Toronto which was absolutely heavenly, but I'm told that this would be roughage compared to the poutine made in Quebec...

So I'm down for some poutine!
