OMG! I was in Monterey yesterday and bought a bag of 12 Hass Avocados for US$1.00!!!!

I like to eat them raw and lick every little bit out of the skin.

What's your favorite way to eat avocados?

Mmmmm! Avocodos! Yummy!

"I see you! And, I'm going to eat you! Come to me, my lovely!"

As in your picture, I slice them in half lengthwise, and remove the pit. Then I fill the cavity with mayonnaise, and enjoy with a spoon.

Unfortunately avocados are among the most fattening of all vegetables, and the mayonnaise makes it worse. Hence, a treat I only have a few times a year.

^ The perfect way to enjoy one of nature's perfect foods.

Avocados are toxic to parrots!

So that means more for me.

Another favorite use of avocados is sliced in a salad. Add artichoke hearts and hearts of palm and I'm in Heaven.

ON EVERYTHING! They help to digest protein- SO GOOD. My brazilian buddy showed me an interesting way to eat them. You can actually make a smoothie with some milk and sugar- sounds weird but its really tasty!

I cut them in half and squeeze a little lime on them and sprinkle a little salt and pepper. Yummy. If I am feeling decadent, I might put a couple tablespoons of sour cream in it too.

Yeah. I was told you can mix a little milk and sugar - or bananas - with it, mash it up, put it in the freezer and then eat it like ice cream.

Never tried it but I just might one of these days.

mash it up, add a bit of salt, pepper and lemon juice. mix it with cottage cheese (about 50/50 ratio). It's a nice spread on toasted bread.

or, cut in half and fill the cavity with shrimps and a bit of mayo.

or, best of all, raw with a bit of (japanse) soy sauce

Now that I'm on a smoothie kick I might as well try it.

Let me know if you do. I'm curious if it is an acquired taste or if you like it the first time.

Mash 1/2 of one in a small bowl. Add a bit of garlic, lime juice if you have it and a bit of salt. Then add Spoon Size Shredded Wheat. It's like quacomole but instead of the fried corn chips you use hold wheat shredded wheat to give it the crunch. Yum!
