    Does anyone agree with me??

Time for my rant about some guys on real jock...

"masculine" and "intelligent" are both over used and extremely relative. Just because you go to college doesn't make you intelligent, I know plenty of people who didn't do well at school but could challenge me in any topic and show "intelligence" in doing so, some may even get a better job than me :0. Saying that, I feel that intelligence on realjock is solely based on whether you attend college, or know what your life will be like in 5-10 years. I for one have no idea where I will be in 5 years, except out of college, and maybe out of the country, nothing wrong with a little fluidity... I would love to meet "Intelligent" and "masculine" guys too, just define what you mean by it before you sound like a bigot. Also, googling big words then placing them in a sentence just to make yourself sound "intelligent" has to be one of my biggest pet peeves....

I swear, I was never this negative until I came on this site haha. I've met some great guys on here though, so it isn't all bad ;)

You must be new to the internet. icon_smile.gif Don't let it get to you. Be more concerned with your real life friends than with strangers on the interwebs.

When I was in college, it was the first time I interacted with a lot different cultures, philosophies, political views, different nationalities, etc. I was somewhat culture shocked at first. I also realized that I grew up somewhat sheltered and being exposed to these new stimuli was overwhelming at first, but actually grew to appreciate it. Because of this, I gained an interest on how people interact with each other. It doesn't matter if they're the same race or different nationalities, etc. The behavior is the same.

Learning how one behaves and interacts to different situations was THE BEST thing that I learned in college. Didn't take any classes on this nor did I do any "official" research on it. Getting a piece of paper saying I'm a qualified computer scientist was just an extra benefit. Totally unexpected, but well worth it.

Perhaps you can learn something on why you think your behavior has changed?? icon_smile.gif The sky's the limit young man.

There might be a little something to this.

I've noticed some guys who earlier on seemed nicer. Or maybe it was just that I hadn't read everything they wrote and then I was suprised to later read how badly they might treat another human being. In extreme cases I seem to notice trends in some with attitudes which sour the longer they stick around but that might be just my own perception. Fact is, though, there's a lot of nasty shit said on this forum and if you hang around shit, well, your clothing is going to pick up that odor. So learn to avert your eyes to disgusting pictures and avoid most threads that look to be doggy minefields.

In myself, I was way more tolerant of what someone might have said to me, realizing that people have their own way of expressing themselves. But so much of it was so freaking abusive (one scumbag told me to die in my own vomit) that now if I suspect someone (and I don't give a rat's ass who in hell you think you are), anyone starting to treat me like shit, I click them on ignore. Without administrative intervention, this site would be intolerable without it.

But there are some pretty intelligent guys here, with or without college. While I still remember being so impressed with a kid in summercamp who constantly worked on his vocabulary, I've always striven to speak in the vernacular, as it made more sense to me to be understood. I'm okay with someone using a term new to me, especially if it fits naturally in their sentence, though I may have to look it up. I would prefer, when someone does that, if they would define what they are saying, because we know they know nobody knows that fucking word, particularly, not a term someone just learned in one of their recent classes. Leave the ivory tower on the fucking campus.

This isn't academia and so using generally unknown terms without bothering to include an explanation is not just intellectually lazy by not being considerate for the understanding of others, but it's like suddenly breaking out into Latin, instead of writing the English we all understand.

The block button is getting used by me, way more often lately. I have managed to meet some great guys and have great conversations on RJ. There has been however a huge increase in the number of fake and or sock accounts.

I am most annoyed by the silly little boys here who start threads purely to start a tirade and pick on others, then get all bent out of shape when people fight back.
There are some highly damaged young men on this site and others, if they are not interested in learning how to function in the world as an adult, and they have been given chances to correct their behaviour, then I don't care enough to warrant reading the crap they spew block them after a couple of days and move on.
I come here to enjoy myself and have a good time, learn some new things and of course check out guys. There is enough shit in the real world to deal with without ruining my personal time with pricks.

College/university can make you more open minded because not only it is a temple of knowledge but the amount of social opportunities it builds for a person. It helps you develop necessary social skills, learning skills and life management skills. There is so much to take from such a platform. You said intelligence cannot be defined yet you have your own definition of intelligence. Also, people do not get jobs because they are more "intelligent" it is because they have good networks and/or better credentials than other candidates from which it is almost impossible without some level of post secondary education.
