It would normally be considered a gaffe, but this is how those people actually think.

President Obama's top campaign strategist said Sunday that the country needs to "accelerate" job creation in the private sector -- by hiring more teachers, police and firefighters.

David Axelrod made the comment as he continued to perform damage control for the president, who said Friday during a press conference that the private sector's "doing fine." But Axelrod drew rapid-fire ridicule from conservatives, after he called for more public-sector hiring to address private-sector economic issues.

"The private sector, we need to accelerate job creation in the private sector," Axelrod told CNN's "State of the Union," before adding: "One of the ways that we can do that is putting teachers and firefighters and police back to work because those are good middle-class jobs."

Told that teachers and firefighters are part of the public sector, Axelrod continued to defend his statement. "But that will help accelerate the recovery," Axelrod said.

Axelrod also pointed to a proposed small business tax credit and refinancing program as ways to help the private sector.

The political adviser appeared on two Sunday shows in large part to answer questions about the president's comments Friday, when Obama had to publicly backpedal after initially diagnosing the private sector as "fine."

It's not a gaffe. It's completely true and had primarily GOP governors (like Walker) not been laying off tons of public sector workers in their states for the past two years, the economy would be doing much better. icon_rolleyes.gif

It's because he doesn't understand the problem. He even denied there was even any issues in the private sector before he was forced to correct himself several hours later... it's clear he doesn't believe in the correction he made.

Obama is far from the moderate that the press and the left trying argue he is.

    More on this story here:
    http://dailycaller.com/2012/06/09/why-obamas-gaffe-wasnt-a-phony-story/

Even Obama has made noises about cutting the size of the government bureaucracy–the foundation, at the federal level, of Washington’s disconnected high life. Does he not mean it? If that’s supposed to happen, when? It clearly can’t happen when the country’s in recession, according to the president–which is why his original 2009 stimulus bill sought to preserve state and local government jobs. Now he’s telling us it can’t happen when the economy is recovering and the private sector is doing fine growing at a modest pace. Is he really going to want to cut unneeded government jobs later, when the private sector really is ”doing fine” and there’s lots of tax revenue to fund the fat-marbled government payroll? Why would he do that, if he sees government jobs as jobs, a good thing, the equivalent to private jobs. That he doesn’t say when he’d cut the jobs only reinforces the suspicion that he doesn’t want to cut them at all, ever.

That’s the legitimate fear Obama’s “gaffe” raises, anyway. It’s not aphony media-made story. It gets at a pretty fundamental point.

Let's just all agree that there is no way Obama is getting reelected, so now, how about that Romney Supreme Court? Whew, it sure is weird how all cases end up 6-3. That "camp" where they put all the gays? I thought that would be illegal, but the court said it was OK. Good times ahead.
