So this super hot latino messaged me on A4A a while back, but after chatting with him a few times, it was clear he was fake (his pics were of a super jacked guy who claimed to be a bodybuilder but he didn't know the first thing about basic weightlifting). His profile name and profile mentioned a fetish for Casio G Shock watches. He had a particular style of writing (every sentence began or ended with "bro" for instance).

After realizing he was fake, I called him out on it and asked him to stop messaging me. He kept sending daily messages of "Hey bro" and the like. Eventually I saw his profile was "suspended."

Today I get messaged by a totally different looking guy whose profile mentions he's a latino and has a fetish for Casio G Shock watches... Here's our exchange:

    HIM: sup

ME: ...didn't you used to have a different screen name... and a different face?

    HIM: what you mean?

ME: you used to have a profile called G-Shock Latino or something like that and you used to message me a lot, but it was obvious you were fake because you didn't know anything about bodybuilding, so I mentioned this to you and asked you to stop messaging me since you were fake. but you kept messaging me over and over anyway. you must have been doing the same to others because your profile got suspended. and now you're back with a new profile and a pic of some other dude that's obviously not you. have fun.

HIM: Dont know what you are talking about man

ME: uh huh. I just don't get what the fun is in creating a fake profile and pretending to be the guy in it? like... when people say "you're so hot" or whatever... they're not really talking about you, they're talking about the guy in the pic, so it's not really a compliment. It can't actually make you feel better can it? I guess it must be like role playing or something. but instead of sitting around a table with a bunch of other dungeons and dragon geeks, you're just sitting behind your computer all old and ugly and fat and alone.

But seriously, what do these people get out of pretending to be someone else? Is it really just about role playing? Which would otherwise be fine if the other person was in on the game, I guess.

They're trying to get people to unlock their naked pics for them to expand their fap folder.

Report them and milk them for lulz when you see them.

I like the way you think. When a troll contacts you, troll the hell out of them back.

I think it's hard for people to be themselves when they want to be perceived as attractive, etc so that guys will talk to them.

I have decided to be me because if I were ever to meet anyone here - they'd see me for who I am and I realize that pretending is not sustainable.

I'm not looking for hot hookups - just quality people and I've found plenty of them here. And frankly - I'm looking for the "hottest" insides.

I have had so many fake profiles of me made that I almost don't care anymore....

... Seriously, I friended myself on Facebook once. Like the guy thought I wouldn't notice I was being friended by a guy with my pictures?

You should banish him pack to the dungeons and have the people in Game of Thrones take care of him icon_lol.gif

    It's ridiculous.

    My favorite excuses:

"Nah man, I don't just give out my Facebook to anyone like that."

(Or, even better: "I don't have a Facebook profile.")

"You can verify yourself? Show me how and I'll do it." Then they don't do it.

I actually don't usually cam with guys I don't know or have talked to for a while. I talked to some guy on here once (I forget his SN) but we messaged each other and whatnot and became Facebook friends. So he checked out. But then he basically cammed with me for a little bit, I was shirtless so it wasn't anything too much. I wasn't like jacking it or anything. But then after a quick minute he blocked me on Skype, blocked me on Facebook, and blocked me on here. WTF?

I'm in Alabama and it's very rampant down here because so many people are closeted and scared to use their real pictures. That and it's usually older guys behind the computer screen. It makes it very hard to trust anyone. There have even been people use my pictures! A friend asked me about a Craigslist ad that I had up one time and I was like "I don't use Craigslist!" I had that ad flagged and removed, but then my pictures popped up later on Manhunt. Seriously though what's the point? It makes it harder to trust the good guys because these people are sketchy as hell.

I'm great with computers. I've used USB webcams before. But I can't figure out how to use the one in my laptop. Baffles me.

I don't add just anyone on Facebook either. Nor do I cam or verify or anything that could expose me as someone who dates online. My private pic could be explained away as someone taking one of my facebook pics.

It's not that hard IMO to weed out the sketchy people in the first few messages and just meet them for coffee. Life's too short to be wasted online on possibly-fake profiles.

apolo_delfos saidIt's true what everyone said in here except a few stuff.
Not every single person has a web cam and not every single person has a facebook or twitter account.

I have several friends from all over the world who doesn't have one or both of those things so I don't think that's an excuse, specially when talking with people from other countries. we don't know their habits or the technology they have in their city.

I'm verified now but since I have no money, for a long time I didn't have a web cam and my camera broke so I couldn't take a pic of myself to get verified and I wouldn't like people to stop talking to me because of that, I think it's really silly, specially if the person is nice to talk to.
Let's not judge everyone so easily.

to be clear, I'm frustrated by men who want to meet and supposedly don't have any kind of webcam. it just seems incredibly suspicious to me but maybe I live in a privileged bubble. I don't think it's too much to expect from someone who wants to hang out or go on a date after meeting on the internet to have even a $10 cheapo webcam... I mean, there have been cases where two men met online and it turned out to be a staged mugging.

talking to people who you'll never meet is another story... that doesn't really present as many questions about truthful identity in my book

    First: Hilarious^ icon_biggrin.gif

Second: I've had this problem on NUMEROUS occasions. Sometimes I get ahead of myself and start sending out pics like Annie Leibovitz.

When I ask for a picture back they never send one, ignore the request, or go around it by giving me a compliment.

Grindr and Scruff has A LOT of problems with these...these gay ghosts.

I'm afraid of people taking advantage of me, I feel so embarrassed and useless afterwards...

There is a big difference between a fake profile and a verified profile like mine where the face pics are kept private (but I unlock for people and appear on cam all the time).

Why guys like me keep their face pics locked is an interesting topic in its own right, but you're talking apples and oranges.

Oh yeah, I totally know what u mean and I think exactly the same. I would also like to see someone on webcam before I'll meet them or at least to have a facebook account to know he is "real" and it's true, it's different if I'm not going to meetthem live, at least, for now.
But it's not $10 for everyone. Here cams can cost up to $200 (pesos obviously, not dollars) and with the inflation we are having and the unenmployment rate it's not easy to spend money on just a webcam when you can use money on some way more useful things. I try not to judge absolutely anyone but to always keep distance if I feel like it icon_smile.gif

You don't need a webcam to verify your profile. Just a cell phone with a camera in it. Snap your pic holding a sign that says "realjock123", text it to an email account, and you're almost done.

There are definitely plenty of fakes out there and while Realjock is pretty good about "verifying" profiles it is possible for that to be cheated. I was talking to one user for quite some time and trusted he was real because he was verified, but I started to question that when he wouldn't let me see his private photos. Turns out you can verify to a private photo which makes it easy for guys to get a "Verified" status with fake public photos as long as their private photos match. So there is a flaw to the verification process which is unfortunate. It sucks that you can't even trust that completely.

If you're serious about it you should write Realjock. I did but nothing has changed. I am just one user though so maybe with more complaints we can get them to change the requirements. Here is the link below:
