I have a question which may be stupid to some people on here, but how do you go meeting guys? Im tired of the same slutty guys at bars/clubs or the dating sites where everyone just wants to hook up or is fake. How do you meet decent guys and know their gay? Cuz ive met decent guys just going out but their straight haha.

terra22 saidUsually the long term relationships I've had I met through mutual friends. My 2 year relationship I actually met over MySpace haha. I had a 10 month relationship from Facebook. I think for gays it's mostly online or out. But I strongly suggest you don't look for romance at clubs. You won't find it there unless you're really lucky. It's like a needle in a building. Trust your instincts.

If its online, go from messaging, to texting, to calling, to dates. That's if you really have things in common and you really think he's an online guy you can trust.

But like I said, through mutual friends or small parties at a friends are best ways. Even at a cafe or a restaurant if you're lucky. Sure is a lot of gay ones here in Boston.

Where are these gay cafes and restaurants in Boston? I've yet to find them!! Maybe I need to hang with you some night! ;)

Well, this self-centered, whiny post about not being able to meet guys should most certainly help your cause!

.....Self-centered? Whiny? Seemed like an honest question to me. Which I agree with Terra. So self-centered, whiny post or not - I'd grab a drink with him.

Get out and do the things you love to do. If you're in a bigger city, that's a great way to meet a guy you're really compatible with.

RJ is a decent resource too in its own way. I think the people who actually do find love here, though, find it by accident. They make a good friend and it develops into something more.

Luck be had, I actually met someone at the gym a few weeks ago. We started off with simple conversation (he asked about my tattoo) and then a week later we had another conversation after the gym. Eventually (2 weeks after talking) I asked if he just wanted to get a drink sometime and got his number. I wasn't entirely sure at this point if he was gay or not but after talking a bit more and a few jokes later we have figured out the other one is gay without even asking straight up icon_smile.gif

Granted this is the first time this has ever happened to me, but I think if you just strike up conversation with someone you think might be gay just have a normal conversation with them and feel it out. If they aren't then you've just made a friend!

I decided to have a Game Night at my house. Board and card games and food. Inviting some straight and gay friends. Invited a guy I just happened to meet while out. I hope he doesn't flake.

Frankly I met a "person of interest" at a starbucks. It was one of the baristas. My gaydar was working good that day and I knew he was gay. I would sit there for days just to get an opportunity to talk with him.

So one day I gave it a shot. I was finishing up studying and I walked up to the bar to get my drink then he asked me what I was studying and then we just talked from there. After that he would say hi to my by my name and I started getting the hints when he would sometimes give me a free drink and always up my size from the last size I said. icon_lol.gif

From my experiences of dating/hooking up/meeting gay men, these are some of the strangest places I've encountered the *potential one. Take some of these into consideration but I believe if he is out there, you can meet him anywhere at anyplace. And then, you can ask him straight up if he's into Dicks!! icon_eek.gif. icon_biggrin.gif

The Mall/Beverly Center L.A. - I was shopping solo for underwear in Bloomingdale one time, left the store, this guy at the coffee shop locked my eyes. I stared at him like 3 seconds and smiled, he came up and asked for my numbers. He called like 10 days later saying that blah blah, he has to get out of town, met up once, not really interested after that. icon_evil.gif

Craigslist Misc. Connection - My ex bf answered an ad I placed over 4 years ago, we ended up together for almost 3 years. He was the only sane and normal one that didn't ask or send me nude pics and actually write infos about himself. icon_biggrin.gif

At a gay beach / Laguna Beach - Lying on the sand tanning by myself, saw this guy kept walking up and down looking at me. He said hi finally, we talked a lot. I found out that he has a suicidal/depressed boyfriend which he can't leave and he is just willing to mess around on the DL. icon_rolleyes.gif

Bars/Clubs setting - are usually good for booty calls but I ended up making some good friends from there. You know your drinking buddies. So it's all good. icon_cool.gif

San Francisco Outdoors Gay group - I belonged to this group for about 2 years, all the dudes in the group are single and yapping about how hard it is to find a man. Well duh, they do events that cost like $250 skydiving and snowboarding every month, some participate only once and never show up again. Others go for the Sport experience because they already paid. Last time I heard I haven't heard anyone hooked up in a LTR there yet.

Manhunt/Grindr - I don't log on that often, but when I do I got weird messages from headless dudes asking me for my penis pics or if I am into rimming/S&M shit....etc. IGNORE !! icon_rolleyes.gif

I guess the one route I haven't try is through gay friends which I'm actively seeking to make some new ones. I live with my straight older brother and my niece, I'm surrounded by straight people all the times. Sometimes, I feel like I need to go to Boystown and just to be gay, it feels like home there. icon_biggrin.gif

Try through your friends; university activities/clubs; gay sporting or other interest groups/clubs.
