I can't find a job with my bachelors degree, even at a restaurant. My computer just crashed and I might have lost all my data; music, documents (including résumés), pictures, etc... My phone broke and it's either an arm and a leg to upgrade or an arm and a leg to fix. I have no car because I can't pay for gas. And I'm about to get kicked out of my house because I can't help support my mom with the minimum wage/15 hour a week job I have. And that is all where it starts.

I haven't felt this low and worthless ever in my life. And when people tell me "don't worry, it'll get better," it's all just empty words...

Bottom line is you may have to move somewhere.

JP is right. In order to move forward, you may have to move out, move on, and upward. My recommendation would be to spend the summer working toward the short term goal of getting a job somewhere else by the end of the year (which is not that far off) and plan accordingly. Where else would you like to live? If so, travel there and interview for jobs -- even if it's a restaurant job. A wise friend of mine told me something I have always used and it has never failed me...

"Take a leap of faith, and a safety net will appear"

    Good luck!!!

What an incredible opportunity you've been given to do something amazing with seemingly insurmountable obstacles! Believe in yourself. I believe you have it in you to look at this situation and choose not to be a victim of the circumstances. Instead choose to be the Greatness that you are.

This is your moment to be courageous and strong, to build character and to gain a self-confidence you might not have had. Have courage, my friend. This is your time. Step up. You can do it. :-) I believe you can.

Yes. Life is this hard. And it can get worse. Welcome to the real world.

Where have u applied for a job?

What is your bachelors degree in?

How have you networked with your contacts to improve your probability of finding a job? The gay community is loaded with small business owners and business people who may prove to be very helpful jobwise.

How much time are u spending pounding the pavement vs looking online?

How are your interview skills? Are you dressing appropriately during interactions with potential employers? Are you paying attention to details (applying for a professional job while having a FB page with pics of u partying etc. that employers will undoubtedly find b4 hiring, email address on resume hotboi24@hotmail.com vs ben.stringer@hotmail.com).

Just a few things to think about...

    Yeah life sucks at times.

It doesn't change the fact that you're not worthless - and you've still got opportunity and good times ahead, if you can push through this.

There are people in your life that do care about you, and will care for you.

Don't look at this as a huge problem, just a pile of smaller ones - each one you work through will make this seem like less of an obstacle.

Pick challenges that you can work on, e.g. - get a less expensive phone - its temporary... problem solved for now.

Once you get a few of them out of the way, you'll find new perspective on the other problems, and maybe solutions that hadn't presented before

    Take care

People respond because they have been in his shoes and want to help. Its not just about him specifically. Many other people are in his position too and read these threads looking for advice.

so basically money will fix all your problems? not to dismiss your situation, but we're talking about a phone here (amongst other things). put your life into perspective of what hard really means.

    Let's see:

    1. You are white.
    2. You are a man.
    3. You live in the United States.
    4. You have a college degree.
    5. You don't live in a war zone.
    6. You have access to clean water, a regular supply of food and Internet access.

You seem pretty OK by my admittedly biased assessment.

I turn to realjock when times are shitty for me because I'm wondering what other people have done to get through these situations. Real life experience from similarly-minded people beats the hell out of talking to closed off family and friends that will tell you anything just to cheer you up.

And I was just informed about a half hour ago that my best friend has colon cancer...

    Thanks for your response anyways.

No, a steady job to keep me busy would cure my financial problems. I'm still waiting for something to cure my emotional problems.

Sorry for the news about your friend icon_sad.gif

But aside from that, your "problems" are something most new grads in North America suffer from unless you are super savvy or a #trustfundbaby

    OH PLEASE icon_rolleyes.gif

We shouldn't feel lucky we are not dying in a war zone. People who see no other alternative but to cause wars are moronic subhuman pieces of shit.

And of course...oh yess i am not starving and dying of thirst....wow so lucky...because that's all we need in life.

The only thing that can cure your emotional problems is you. Being happy is a choice. As corny as it sounds, its true. You work 15 hours a week right? ...so with all that free time you got go figure out something you can do with it and do it.

Life is hard compared to what???
