    Hi guys,

I just wanted you to know we've added a feature that allows you to delete your own topics. For now, this will also serve as a basic editing feature in that if you want to edit your topic you can just delete it and add a new one.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Never been on a forum that allows its members to do this... Can't say I like the idea: if a debate is going against the OP, they have the ability to take action on their petulance and just erase it all.

*shrugs* Hopefully people here are mature enough not to use this on a running thread.

Well... some threads just need to be deleted. Double posts, wrong headers, change of heart, and the GLORIOUS CONFLAGRATIONS that are the FLAME WARS!

That's what forum moderators are for icon_wink.gif.

I agree. Perhaps before a deletion, the thread would have to be approved for deletion by the moderators.

I don't think we have mods here.

But yeah, Atlazeia's idea sounds good. Will definitely stop OP's from deleting interesting threads as soon as they start going against the OP's thoughts.

I think we should just give zdrew ultimate authority on that. He should rightfully rule the universe and life as we know it.

*jerks awake at desk on a sleepy Tuesday morning*

Oh, what the hell? Those damn moderators living in my keyboard must be at work again. Pay them no attention.

    *nods back off*

Give it to him. Give it all to him. Long live zdrew.

you know, i'm surprised Caslon hasn't posted to this yet, but i assume it's because he can't control his body in the orgasmic state it's in after reading the OP

Sshhh! Be quiet...he's a little sensitive about that. He had too much kibble before bed last night and can't fit his fat kitty butt through the pet door this morning.

    With pleasure?

Don't know if I'll get a response, but I'm wondering what prompted this sudden change. Have there been requests? Are the boards short-staffed?

By "basic", do you mean that this will become one of the members-only perks once the membership thing comes into play?

On the whole, I think this is a good thing. I'm reminded of a certain member that felt he posted too much personal information, deleted his account, and created a new one. I like the suggestion to have some moderation, but that could get labor intensive - maybe a vote of some sort (like wiki articles). Ugh, this is why I'm not in web development... ya'll just figure it out for me, ok? Thanks!

Maybe the OP of a thread just needs the ability to delete annoying, pointless postings to an otherwise erudite discussion! ... icon_evil.gif

That's what DELETE POST is for. No need to give individuals a nuclear option when they already have an eraser. This new "feature" solves a nonexistent problem and could wipe out of existence some of the most informative, thoughtful, provocative, or just plain fun threads, based solely on the whim or the drug habit of a single individual.

But that wouldn't work if the post was the first in the topic. Of course, they could "edit post" to delete the post, but if anyone quoted them further on, the text would remain.

I'm waiting for the delectable irony it would be if the RealJock crew exercised their newly-created power and deleted this thread.

Good question, it appears Caslon came up with this suggestion, over in this thread:
    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/217270/

Is there a suggestion thread somewhere? When browsing other members' forum posts; I'd like to see which ones that they created.

That's true of ANY of our posts. Plenty of people posting to threads post as much, and quite often much more, personal information than the original poster. There's no justification for why that single individual ought to have nuclear power over everyone else on the thread, while no one else can avoid the perpetuity of their quoted submissions.

I still want to be able to edit the title independently without deleting the thread. That way I could start a thread with one title...get everybody to post to that titel...then switch the titles, so that everybody's post looks like it was responding to something else and their responses would be hilarious!!!!
