Your thread title and comment dealt with the economy and government, respectively. The article you linked to was focused specifically on judicial appointments. To refute your thread title and comment:

    1) First two years when Democrats led both Houses, Obama got essentially what he asked for, including that stimulus. Their primary focus was Obamacare. They falsely assumed the stimulus would take care of the economy and did little else because of their Obamacare focus.

    2) The 2010 election was a strong signal that the voters wanted the spending habits of the Administration in check. After admitting the election was a shellacking, Obama wanted to continue doing exactly what he had been doing before, but the Republicans, in response to what the people voted for, would not be a rubber stamp.

    3) Obama's budget proposal for the past 2 years got no votes, even from his own party. Clearly indicated that neither he nor his party took his budget proposals seriously. It should also be noted that his budget proposals ignored the substantive recommendations of his own commission charged to suggest ways to reduce the debt.

    4) The Republican led house produced a budget proposal that the Democratic led Senate will not even consider.

    5) The Democratic led Senate has not produced a budget proposal in the past 3 years, in direct violation of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974.

    6) The Republican led house has produced numerous job related bills, including the Keystone Pipeline, that the Democratic led Senate will not even consider.

    socalfitness,

How can you say the Democrats led Congress, when they had to rely on Collins and Snowe to overcome filibusters, which meant watering down some of the legislation? And Scott Brown was elected before the midterms, which meant further concessions to get him to sign on.

As for the stimulis, it helped.

If the election of 2010 was a signal that voters wanted federal spending kept in check because they think President Obama went overboard, then they're pretty stupid. Here's federal spending levels of Obama compared to past Presidents.

    MW-AR658_spendi_20120521163312_ME.jpg?uu

    G. W. Bush's administration had higher percentage levels of federal spending, and then Reagan. But of course since they're Republican, you give them a pass.

The budget proposal pushed by the Republicans contains language that most Democrats don't agree with. Simple as that. Why entertain a budget that you feel to be damaging?

Just because the Keystone Pipeline project can create jobs doesn't mean it's something to automatically support, especially when you consider the environmental impact.

    No, you provide spin.
The bills passed by the Republican house were specifically tailored to make sure that the Senate would not consider them. That way they could run against the Senate in the election----oh, look, the Senate is so partisan, boo hoo.

The fact is that the Republican House has done not one thing it promised---to wit, to work on jobs jobs jobs---preferring instead to focus on a loony wish list of right-wing social objectives that the public didn't ask for and don't want.

But I'm starting to wonder if you even realize that you're spinning anymore. I think you actually believe this crap. The joke's on you, because your party leadership doesn't believe it---they just know it often works. They are con artists, and you are one of the---apparently very easily---conned.

Yup. Does Socal know that he responded to a non-conservaposse thread thereby violating the rules of the Treehouse? icon_lol.gif

    Pure crap.

The Senate was only trapped because Reid was so partisan. Keystone Pipeline partisan? Many Democrats want it but because Obama needs cover from deciding between the environmentalists and the unions, Reid went along.

Did the Republicans prevent the Senate from proposing a budget for the past 3 years? No, they did not want to face the choice of either cutting entitlements or having a budget scored as increasing the debt. Better politics to do nothing in violation of the law and criticize the Ryan budget. Politics before country. And soon to be out of office where they belong.

No one is conned. I know exactly what the Republicans and Democrats are doing. You're not conned either. You are as in favor of turning this country into a mediocre third world socialist state consistent with the likes of Krugman.

What our country needs is an open revolt. The government needs to be reminded it works for the people not against the people. Republicans and Democrats will be forced to fight to the death in gladiator style matches. The victor moves on to the next round. Once there is only one person left, they will be given mercy if they can hold their breath underwater for 23 minutes.
