Do You Ever Worry About If Your Looks/Body Fades

Yeah I was gone for a bit and havent posted for awhile but I am back...sort of, anyway,

The world in general especially the gay community is so obsessed with beauty.

I think if a poll was taken I think most if us would have a load of shampoos, conditioners, colognes, hair spray, gel, facial cleansers etc.

I know alot of you work out because you like it and such, but is that ever tied into self esteem.

I mean if you think you look good, you feel good right?

Do you guys ever worry about not being as attractive.
I know it sounds vain but so is the world.

Another question while I am here.
I was having a talk with one of the gay people I work with, and he was like "If I lose weight, and gain hair here, and wear this I will be hott.Like I use to be"

He is such a beatiful person and he is handsome so it kind of broke my heart, seeing someone who feels like they have to essentially torture themselves and change so much to be what they think is beautiful in hopes that someone will want him.

Since when did beauty become so tangible and concrete. Or do we just treat as such most of the time?

Also, what happens if you are with someone because of how they look and they start to gain weight, get wrinkles, or such... would you leave them?

How would you feel if they left you for that reason?

    just a question.
    Not to be overthought over.

    Worry? No.

Take preemptive action (beauty products + diet + exercise)? Yes.

I don't know if this is true for anyone else but I actually feel a lot better about how I look as I get older.

I mean I'm only 27 so I'm not really at the right age to comment about the effects of aging but I feel quite optimistic about it. I don't see it as a negative or something to be overly worried about.

I guess it helps if you don't trade on your looks. I mean I'm no great beauty so I haven't really focused on that. I think guys who primarily base their value on their good looks obviously have a lot more to lose.

    No...

That's what botox, chemical peels, plastic surgery and the gym are for.

Should be interesting what the guys who go through the whole Botox and fillers approach to staying young will look like in 20 yrs. I keep thinking it's going to be something in the lines of the final scene from "Death Becomes Her" where the characters are a hot mess after their own attempts to plastic surgery.

You don't look younger, you look like you've had work done.

Funny, but at 47, I feel like I look better than I ever have, and physically I'm still able to beat most guys much younger than me in the pool, on the bike or on the trails. I don't worry about losing attractiveness as I age, since that's an internal thing anyway.

Stay active, eat good, healthy foods, don't smoke or do drugs, and get plenty of sleep and you'll look great into old age.

I'm all for maintenance/botox/fillers etc BUT has any man ever managed to pull it off ??

Who's the poster child for male plastic surgery done right ??? It always ends up looking slightly off to me , especially guys with botox who end up with that raised eyebrow look.

I mean look at Rupert Everett !!

For another cautionary example of a once good-looking guy who ruined his looks with plastic surgery, look at Bruce Jenner sometime. He went from Wheaties-box handsomeness (1970s version) to botox and plastic surgery Freakazoid.

I think all that stuff ends up making guys look worse, rather than better. To me it looks like desperation.

Based on ooking at my parents I know I'm going to turn to shit. I already have enough trouble at 30 keeping the fat off. At least I've been told I'm handsome so hopefully that'll last. But I am hoping to have something to live for other than just my looks when I get older.

    To be perfectly honest, yes.

And Not in a panic driven and totally vain way, but i do know that i wouldn't have gotten away with half the shit i did get away with in my early 20's if i were deemed attractive to someone who wanted to bang me or me bang them. Half the jobs i got that i wasn't qualified for were most likely because i was attractive to the person hiring me.. or living situations i got because i "looked attractive".. Some of my bad behavior was excused because i looked so goddamn cute doing something bad and acting like an ass.

But as you age, the game changes, and you are forced into understanding that beauty doesn't last, you are not the hottest thing on earth, someone will always find you unattractive and you must always back your shit up with something else. So in order to keep afloat and mentally healthy you must plan for "transition". Know that you will oneday walk into a room and no one will notice you.. and that should be fine.. because everything has it's season. Once you embrace the new chapter, it wil be an easier read.

When i was really considered "attractive"... sometimes i hated it because i never felt anyone was into me for being me. So i overcompensated it with being batshit weird. It didn't work.

I'm very happy with how time and I have gotten along so far, one thing I am sure of is that I won't be doing the plastic surgery thing.. I have never seen a guy who looked even GOOD afterward. Take care of what you have is the best plan.

    This
As I and my friends age none of really care so much any more, you get up in the morning, look in the mirror and think OMG what the fuck happened, I used to be pretty.
Then you shower, make the most of what you have, workout, use creams eat right etc, and get on with your day. And forget that you might look old to some insignificant young people, cause you as a middle aged man, dont really care to let it stop you from doing what you have to do.

I don't, b/c aging is normal and it's part of life's journey. Of course it's easier for me to say this, b/c I'm asian and will remain young longer than most of you icon_smile.gif
