This is why I don't plan on voting Republican in November (my card says Republican just FYI)....or Democrat. Neither party does anything for me so I'm just going to vote for a candidate who most matches my ideals. New York is going to Obama anyway so it's just a vote for the sake of voting.
Anyway - being Republican is not about being conservative nor is Democrat about being Liberal - thats just where the parties are right now. It sucks because there isn't any room for being anything in between. You can't be a social liberal but fiscal conservative and still have a say in politics.
A true Republican - one who favors small government - would say fuck restrictions. It ain't the governments job to tell me what to do and who to bang. Not that a Democrat doesn't but I'm sure you get my point.
