This should go in the News & Politics folder. Just be warned, they are a few very vocal members who will attack you for being gay and Republican. They fall into two categories: 1) Some are far leftists/Socialists who use gay issues as a lever to beat anyone who does not tow their political line, and 2) Some are apolitical, for whom gayness is everything and they believe because there are anti-gay elements within the Republican Party, no one should support that party.

In both categories, some of the guys are just highly opinionated and intolerant of other views. Some are actually mentally unbalanced and have described their situations in the Mental Health area, so you are not always dealing with a stable person.

I hope this does not deter you from posting there. There are many guys here who are against the leftist Socialist policies of this administration and are aligned with the Republicans at this point.

Gay Republicans basically have a choice between two, self-loathing groups?

    How nice.

Both Provide an important voice within the GOP, even if it is an unwelcomed voice by some (certainly not by all). I also prefer LCRs because they don't have a "my way or the highway" mentality, unlike GOProud, who tend to want to ram their views down the throats of others rather than using more diplomatic and effective tactics.

Your nominee for president is opposed to civil unions and wants to write discrimination into the Constitution - that "working from within" is working out great! Good job Uncle Tom's Log Cabin!

Yes. They are both basically social groups for self loathers to provide affirmation to each other. Gay republicans are not accepted by either the gay or str8 community. So they have to congregate together and circle the wagons where there is safety in numbers. Kinda like the African American members of the KKK.

What he may say he wants vs. what he may actually want or get are two entirely different things

OP: don't mind the negative comments that were totally expected. Just keep in mind that those who use the self-loather term are really self-loathers themselves. These guys are for the most part known because they also post in other forums, the Mental Health forum for example. They are generally in addition to being self-loathers themselves, male prostitutes with no dignity, current or former mental patients, some currently being medicated, and generally unhappy bottom feeders, basically the scum of society.

You can support whatever politicians you want. Real political debate is fine, but just ignore the bottom feeding scum.

Sorry to break it to you, but the leadership of the Republican Party are not listening to their gay fringe. You only have to look at their voting record on gay issues in Congress to know this.

jockfever: So gay men must choose between being an Obama zombie or being pidgeon-holed by Obama zombies?

Gay men must pay no attention to how much misery Obama and his zombies inflict with their failed policies?

Gay men must ignore how much Obama and his zombies hollow out the private sector and the military?

Gay men should ignore how Obama and his zombies appease our enemies?

Gay men should pay no attention to how Obama and his zombies destroy a free, prosperous, civil society?

At least 30 % of gay men knew better in 2010. In 2012, faced with the disaster of the worst president ever, more gay men will choose limited Constitutional government, individual liberty, personal and fiscal responsibility, capitalism, a strong national defense, and a free, prosperous society.

The gay Left seeks to marginalize and demonize gay moderates and conservatives. This is so different from straight people marginalizing and demonizing gays?

The image of gay men eagerly and carelessly selling their country down the river for the sake of a failed Marxist Fraud, and his accomplices in the Democrat Party, is what sane, informed gay men should really loath.

My vote goes to GOProud and the way Jimmy LaSalvia, Executive Director, responds to Dan Savage.

    "House faggots."

    Dear Friends,

    "House faggots."

That’s exactly what gay left activist Dan Savage called GOProud and thousands of supporters just like you when we announced our endorsement of Mitt Romney for President yesterday.

The leader of the “It Gets Better” campaign is on a personal crusade to silence gay conservatives and our allies by marginalizing our opinions and hurling offensive insults at us.

I guess it only gets better if you fall in line with their failed big government beliefs.

The gay left has pulled out all the stops to try to shut us up, but their efforts have only strengthened our numbers.

    We will not be silenced.

I’m proud of the work GOProud has done since 2009, and I am optimistic about our goals for this election.

Our mission is centered on three key themes: Free Markets, Limited Government, and Individual Rights. On each of these three issues, we believe Mitt Romney is the best candidate for the job.

We must reject the failed policies of Barack Obama, which have harmed Americans irrespective of sexual orientation. As I said in our endorsement, most gay Americans – like their straight counterparts – are not better off than they were 4 years ago. The truth is that gay people are living in the disastrous failed Obama economy, too.

For far too long, the gay left in this country has been allowed to dictate what they believe qualify as ‘gay issues.’ We think that jobs, the economy, healthcare, retirement security and taxes are all ‘gay issues,’ and on every single one of those issues, Mitt Romney is light years better than President Obama.

Well, then it's too bad that he wouldn't touch your poor, deluded ass with a ten-foot-pole.

GOProud is not even a gay organization.

    What a disgusting analogy.

Who are you to give moral judgement on anything.

One of the most self loathing thing a person can do is sell themselves.

You cannot find and example of such a person who psychologically does well in life.

To answer your question I think LCR would be better but where you live it depends on the individual members that make it worth while or not.

And you really do not have to join a specific GAY group.
You may find yourself comfortable in Young Republicans or a Libertarian group.

Those who are the most self-loathing are the first to label others as such. By doing so, they transmit their own lack of self-worth in a feeble attempt to build themselves up by putting others down. But as you would expect, they can never understand that.

Brought to you by McDonald's brand psychology. icon_rolleyes.gif

Look you just had a Republican senator say he's against discrimination in gays being fired for being gay, but doen't like the proposed anti-discrimination law because it allows them to litigate if they ARE fired for being gay, as that will make business 'uncomfortable'.

That you have no problem with that little gem is indicative of a rather low sense of self worth.
