I understand the need to stay within a budget, and it's commendable.

With a car that old, however, I do think you should do an in-person inspection first before purchasing.

If that's not part of the bid agreement, then I would not bid.

Not a good idea to buy a car that old without having a chance to get it inspected by a good mechanic. You could be asking for trouble. You might contact the seller, ask if you can meet and get the car inspected. Offer to pay for the inspection. If the seller won't accommodate you, then don't bid.

I probably did just do the stupidest thing ever... But I bought it. $700 later... I guess worst case scenario I can always resell it... I only one it cuz the guy made the auction in the middle of the night haha.

Well, sorry to say but I don't think that was a smart move. Yes, it sounds like you got a good deal for it, but if you need repairs, it's going to be hell trying to find parts. And it'll be even a worse experience to try and re-sell it.

and if I'm reading your post correctly, you were the only one bidding…becuase no one else wanted it. That car is older than you and it's not a classic collector's car. Scary.

Oh, you meant I only "won" it…not "one"…got it.

Well, good luck. I hope it's better than it appears. Please make sure to have a good roadside assistance plan.

I'm like 20... And live in the middle of nowhere and still havn't got my lisence. I need a car to get it, to get a better job. To get a good car. I know it's old, but properly taken care of, with low km's... I hope I can get at least another 50,000 out of it without many problems.
